By that logic why bother with any of this? Just accept the guy in front of you is better and just ride around until the checkers. Nobody’s saying let’s wad up 15 cars. But I don’t really understand the defense of 40 laps of single file by the wall until turn of of the last lap.
Because the best cars should naturally sort themselves out. If they haven't the positions will change accordingly. I would say you have to accept it if you can't make it happen in a clean manner.
I think single file racing is smart on a plate trick in order to log laps. You have to be there in the end to have a chance at a win and solid finish. I'd like to see more separation between the cars. That way the haves can deviate from the have nots instead of being at the mercy of pack racing. That's how earlier plate racing was.
