Second Las Vegas Cup race

It might pull in some more residents, but I don't think it'll pull in many tourists. This may be anecdotal, but I've been to Vegas a couple of times and even though I'm a NASCAR fan, I wouldn't want to devote an entire day of my Vegas vacation to seeing a race. There's too much else to do there.
I used to got to Vegas every year....1999-2006, it was a great event to attend , plenty to do, I went primarily for the racing, but enjoyed the Vegas experience too. Giving Vegas a second date, especially the last race of the year makes perfect sense and in my opinion taking the Chase date away from NHIS is long over due.

Taking a (Chase) date away from Talladega is long overdue, and I wish that was an option.

They'll pave ... or pay their roadbuilding and paving contractors a large chunk of change.

I'll go with pave.

Straight from Speed Sport News today...
"Marcus Smith, chairman of Speedway Motorsports Inc., said on Sunday that they are reconsidering plans to repave the track."

My only problem with LVMS replacing NHIS in the playoffs is that it would mean 6 of the 10 playoff races would be on mile-and-a-halfs. A little disproportionate to the regular season IMO.
Aren't the majority of races run on 1.5 mile tracks?

You would need to completely move the schedule around at that point so the playoffs are more balanced

So move it around. One of my gripes with the Chase has been that the races in it weren't selected for any reason. They just happened to have been the last 10 at the time the format was implemented. That didn't make any difference when all races were equally important, but coincidence is a lousy way to pick playoff venues.

If NASCAR can consider replacing NH with Texas in the Chase, it can consider wholesale schedule changes. We've already determined what kind of girl you are; now we're haggling.

So the races in the Chase aren't representative of the rest of the season now. Dropping a flat 1-miler for a banked 1.5'er would throw it even more out of balance.
A flat 1 miler that is a suck show of a race! I'd drop NHIS any day for Vegas, I live in Massachusetts and the Cup race sucks there, especially if you are there in person watching it, boring as hell. NHIS is a good track for Late models, Trucks, and most of all the Modifieds which put on the best show of all the divisions that race there.

Wonder what changes they could do to the Chase schedule here soon?

Chicago
Las Vegas Night? (replacing NHMS)
Dover
---
Talladega
Charlotte RC (hopefully eventually)
Kansas (can NASCAR please get rid of this race or move this at least out of the Chase if Vegas is coming?)
---
Martinsville
Texas
Phoenix
---
Homestead-Miami

. Swap out Kansas with Road America and then I think you have something. Not excited about the Charlotte roadcourse really, wish NASCAR had gone to a more traditional road course.

A Las Vegas championship race is going to be pretty cool, it's going to be hyped like the Monster Energy Cup Supercross race in Vegas. That's a hell of an event.

Las Vegas should get final race. Move homestead to the earlier in the chase.

Texas should never lose a second race - one of the best tracks to visit and fans turn out.

And worst races to watch

Texas should almost never have a first race. We have the same **** at Atlanta & Charlotte. Once Atlanta gets their repave, all 3 of these tracks will have the same high grip, strung out, no passing style races. Boring af & bad for nascar. No thank you.

Kansas and Kentucky are the best 1.5 mile tracks IMHO.

Kentucky has really gotten better over the past couple of years and its really different from the other 1.5 mile tracks, a lot of character.

Disgusted with this. I live in MA, and going to the fall NH race has been an event since 2004. It's way too hot in July, and I cant afford to go anywhere else. If they get rid of that race, I will be disgusted, and crushed. How about Pocono? The second Pocono race is a good date for Vegas.

One thing about Bruton Smith is that he is not afraid to spend a lot of money or change his mind.
That's for sure. After Bruton built the 4 lane drag strip next to the Lowes Motor Speedway, a couple of years later the concrete started flaking and coming up in spots. He had all 4 lanes removed and re poured.
