SILLY SEASON 2019

...so they represented 5 Hour Energy and Furniture Row...a team that had to shut down because 5 Hour Energy left amongst other things. And now they bought the Furniture Row charter...

and they are racing a Chevy..go figure :idunno:

I thought it was pretty interesting Meendering jumping ship sideways from SHR to JGR Xfinity. Gabehart was Brandon Jones Xfinity chief

bye bye Denny. Getting ready for Bell in 2020
If true...the Preacher is getting ready to lead Denny to the slaughter house. I have been wondering who the Preachert would whack to bring Bell up, I’d always bet Denny from the looks of it. It’s more interesting to me as to where Denny would end up after JGR and if Fed Ex would go with him.

I believe Denny only has his job because he can wheel a car and Fed X backs him rather than JGR.

yep cutting out the Fed X part of the statement can cause a team to close it's doors in today's climate no matter how well a team performs. See Truex and Moffitt. Thankfully Jim France is on the job, and isn't sitting on his thumbs.

FedEx supported JGR before Denny came along, and they each share a common connection with the Redskins. FedEx like Denny but I don't think they need him.
Didn't say they needed him. No sponsor needs any specific driver. But I do think
they help Denny keep his job. Of course that may end in 2020 season.:p

How many more drivers can possibly become TV analysts
Fans have made known they want two at NBC replaced and I think Fox will have to replace JG as he moves to a more active roll in management at HMS.
Once the networks realize the "Hype" is part of their failure they will need to search out
the old "Benny" type. Another thing that was already posted and I agree with is the fans ability to switch channels for different parts of the race. For some it will be to watch the top five, others may like the middle of the pack and still others who are more interested in those racing to become the first car a lap down. I am getting more new batteries for the remote in anticipation.

Benny Parsons was a driver before he transitioned to broadcasting too. Also if Dale Jr/Michael Waltrip/Phil Parsons can all own teams but still be a part of a TV broadcast then I don't see why Gordon should be any different if he ends up managing HMS.

I think it's a matter of Jeff not going to have the time. Jr. doesn't do much of his own heavy managerial lifting.

I doubt Jeff wants to be that busy, he still has a wife and couple kids.
None of the guys you mentioned were very successful, they needed the extra income. :sarcasm:

IMO I don't care who is in the booth for Fox, they would have to go eons to be as bad as the gerbils. Announcers don't usually bother me no matter who they are, but when I couldn't concentrate on the race amid all of the B.S. guessing, telling the future, Dr Phil's type nonsense and tag team screaming, somethings got to give.

I salute Barney Visser.
He came, he conquered JGR -- Visser and FRR are now part of NASCAR legendary history.

In defense of Holy Joe, he had to shiv Visser. Toyota Racing leadership watching him lose to Barney, again -- very embarrassing to have the 78 beat him for the Championship, as well as in back-to-back years in the standings. On the grand stage of NASCAR Championship Weekend, the Toyota charging forward and making a race of it was the 78.

Ego bruised and battered at Homestead last year, plus the antics of Indy, and probably a lot more behind the scenes JGR nonsense -- Holy Joe had little recourse.

yeah he did. Got his name called a few times.

Been calling for him to get a better truck for the better part of two years. Hill could an underdog, I wonder if he's bringing United Rentals with him? Wasn't that long ago where Austin didn't really have any sponsors. He would be interesting to see.

If he drives for HRE I would say that is exactly why he has the job bringing United Rentals along and why Moffitt isn't. No sponsorship. Despite claims to the contrary by the self appointed TRD expert, HRE in articles written were scraping funds together to make it from race to race, sometimes not knowing if they were going to race next week or not. They had like 13 people working their butts off. Hattori can't do that forever, too tough. IMO I think Hill will do pretty good, but Moffitt and that crew drove a season few could with what they had to work with.

Barney Visser and co. are on of the best stories to come along since Alan Kulwicki did the unthinkable in 1992. To be an underdog is one thing. To win the title from that position is something else.
