SILLY SEASON 2019

I love Jacques.....for some of the very same reasons I love Rowdy. He doesn't give a **** about what you think. Refreshing.

Cassill to drive the 00 for Star-Com:

Star-Com is making big moves, they bought the old 27 charter from RCR. Getting RCR engines, and moved next to RCR:

I guess if you have a sponsor in your pocket there will always be a team to give you a ride.
I just don't understand why some drivers want to ride at the back in every race, Why not drop down to Xfinity with your sponsor money and buy a better ride like Sadler did.

Cassill doesn't have any sponsors and tbh he wasted an opprotunity at FRM. Now he is who he is, a decent driver at the back of the field. Better than Weatherman or having Cope in the car.

Make more money at the Cup level as well. Star-Com is a huge fiber company in the Northeast of the US.

The sponsor will get more TV time wadded up in turn 2 of a Cup race than leading an entire X race. Well, I exaggerate, but not much.
Xfinity races draw more viewers than Indycar most of the time. IndyCar has been growing though. IDK about next year, Xfinity has some pretty good drivers getting good seats. Gragson (JR), and Cendrick (Penske) are new in good cars and veteran Chastain (Ganassi) finally has a good ride to name three to watch and there are others. For a fan of the sport, it is one of the better lineups in Xfinity in years. Gragson is going to be a star in the sport in the years to come. He's Tim Richmond kind of crazy so far.

For a fan of the sport, ...
I submit those are the key words. Few people watch X races that aren't already fans of the sport. Cup races draw more casual fans who have some name recognition for Harvick, Busch, and a few others.

I agree completely with you about next year's X season looking good.

it's pretty simple I think anyway. The money is like walking and flying difference to those who say why don't they go race in Xfinity instead of cup? That is why so many fans of the sport have taken a stand about cuppers in Xfinity. Casuals for the most part don't care if they race in the series, but hard core fans for the most part want limits.

Cant help but giggle when people say cendrick is good. Dude is straight trash

Right hand man's son or not, Roger Penske doesn't waste his time and money on people he doesn't think have potential. When's the last time Roger totally whiffed on a driver? Even Kevin Cogan and Paul Tracy, who were two of the least effective drivers in a Penske car were both enormously talented.

David Stremme?

^ both great drivers in their times spent in open wheel.
Just limited a bit in the heavy class which is no put down.
If you train all your life as a sprinter, it is hard to win a marathon runner.
They came, They tried, they had success, just not top of the class.

I wouldn't call Allmendinger OR Hornish a whiff. Both are very good drivers, but probably weren't the best choice for stock cars. I do think that if AJ hadn't screwed up and stayed with Penske, the results would be somewhat different. Hornish's record in Indycar earned him a shot in stock cars if that's what he wanted to do, although I have always wondered if his heart was TRULY in it. Both cases are a lot different than the Cindric situation.

Yep, if AJ hadn't screwed up things would have been different.

Hornish could have been another Randy LaJoie or Elliott Sadler, one of those guys who does really well at the next-to-the-top level.

8 races is a pretty big chunk. He is definitely going to get his feet wet in a higher series with a good car. Skipped right over the trucks, only one race, he was an ARCA Toyo driver.

as long as the design element is cash and lots of it they can do any scheme they want and that goes way back to horse racing with jockey silks and colors.

They would make a lot more cash in merchandise sales alone if the cars didn't look like dog ****.

I bet William Byron sells more merch with the Axalta car than the rest of his awful liveries combined
