Dude, multiple wins are HARD to pull off in the Cup series. If your name isn't Jimmie Johnson there's no shame in not winning two plus races.

How about getting A WIN...he has 0 wins this year, not many laps led, not very competitive at all...last year he was at least competitive overall and he had multiple wins.
 
Sponsors love Bowyer. The media love Bowyer. Fans who love other drivers like Bowyer.

Bowyer will be in the #14 next year.
This. I wouldn’t be opposed to see both Bowyer and Saurez get the boot but I’m indifferent really. Who are you going to replace them with? I’m not completely sold on Custer either. If SHR had a chance to get Larson or Bell, I’d ax both driver’s of the 14 and 41, sign one of Larson or Bell then bring up Custer. But Charlie is right sponsors love Clint, media loves him and fans do too. I think he will stay in 14. Suarez tenure seems a little bit more shaky
 
Business.. and given the in race coverage "there's no question he will have a ride next year".. he simply used these well intended dramatics, and used the media to advocate for a ride next year. I'm sure the feelings were real, albeit dramatized. He campaigned for himself and used the media as a job reference, so to speak. Not sure if this is what you are saying, but it is what it is. He did what he did to give himself an image... Which is important in NASCAR these days.

No question, and I don't have a problem with that, but to suggest that he was "shocked" is disingenuous in my opinion. He absolutely knew the plan IMO. Passively he painted a picture of dishonesty in regard to Leavine.....and indirectly TRD/Toyota. I have a problem with that.
 
No one stole anybody. Chris was loaned out with conditions attached. JTG failed to negotiate a new contract within the time specified at which point Chris was obligated to notify RFR.
Maybe JTG should have done their due diligence to prevent this. Looks to me they were more interested in saving money than renewing Chris's contract.
Maybe they will have a better chance signing Ricky at a reduced rate.

BS. JTG had no idea this was coming. I don't have a problem with it, but this move is much more savage than what other owners have pulled and received greater scrutiny in this enlightened board.

If JTG didn't see it coming, they either didn't understand what they agreed to, or just forgot. Either way, it was on them for not being on top of the situation. My understanding is that Buescher only did what he was obligated to do, and that is to inform Roush that he was indeed a free agent. The only question I have, is did Buescher REALLY want to go to Roush, or stay where he was? If he wanted to stay at JTG, wouldn't he have told them that if they didn't get this deal done by date X, then Roush would be able to snatch him away? Maybe Buescher way using Roush as a bargaining chip, not thinking they would actually exercise the option? Either way, I can't see where Roush did anything wrong, and you can count on one hand the number of times I've defended them in the last 30 years.
 
What I was saying is, there is a large portion of the fan base that are still pissed off that NASCAR allowed Toyota into the sport, and this portion of the fan base does not miss any chance to spew their racist hatred for Toyota and the Japanese, and with that same group being very "murican", and Jimmie has been driving Chevy's going back to his off road days, I can see them getting very upset if Jimmie starting driving a one of those damn "Yoders"

Mark Martin left Ford, drove Chevy and then a Toyota. I don't remember any redneck riots after that.

Compared to Dibenedetto's deal, it's not just apples and oranges, it's apples and elephants. @Revman is in desperation mode again. Clearly it bothers him when people talk bad about his precious JGR/TRD, so he grasps at straws and cries foul whenever stuff happens that is somewhat kind of halfway comparable to a "controversial" situation with Gibbs. Nothing to see here.

Unfortunately i doesn't matter who likes whom. It is all
about the money. If Suarez has the sponsor and Bowyer only has Hass money then
guess who keeps their ride.

Why did Clint's sponsor jump ship when he had the SHR ride to look forward to.?

I used to be one of those guys pissed that Nascar brought Toyota into the fold. A Jap car lol. Now I realize it made the sport better. We need more manufacturers. Honda, Kia, Dodge. Whoever. I dont care. I just want to see the sport grow. And when we talk about our next car Camry is very high on that list even tho I despise Kyle Busch lol. Toyotas get preferred parking spots for no charge at Kentucky lol. They also build dependable cars that last. Probably more American than Chebby or Ford. Twenty years ago for me to say such a thing would have been unthinkable. It was Ford or nothing. I still always pull for the Blue Oval. But I'm not brand loyal to the point of stupidity.

When I'm buying something for over $25K that I expect to last more than 10 years, brand loyalty goes out the window. What I bought 10 years ago may no longer be as good, and what I didn't buy may have improved. What drivers get paid to ride doesn't factor in at all. Their 'brand loyalty' lasts only until the next brand offers them a bigger check. There's no reason fans should have any at all, esp. when we have write the checks, not receive them.

I used to be a diehard Chevy fan as a kid because that's all Kevin ever drove. Then he started tearing it up in a Ford (and I started driving, in Fords, lol) and I couldn't care less now.

I agree....I have a Ford, GMC, Toyota, Honda and a Mazda in my driveway because they were the most logical purchases at the time...well the Ford is a Mustang so that's for fun. But the point is even though I cheer for the Fords I'm not blind or oblivious to the other products out there. I cheer for the Fords on sunday because I think of it just like I think of a sports team...that's my team, those are my guys! The players come and go but I still cheer for the same team. I appreciate all the money and resources they spend on the sport and they deserve me cheering for them.

I hate Ford and Toyota on the race track for the same reason Red Sox fans hate the Yankees, and Bears fans hate the Packers. There is no real logic to it, it just makes the whole thing more interesting to me. I want Ford and Toyota to BE there, I just don't want them to WIN anything. As to my own vehicles, I grew up in a pretty die hard GM family, and their products have served me well. With the exception of one Pontiac we owned that I never would have bought under other circumstances (bought cheap from the in-laws) my GM vehicles have given me excellent service above and beyond my expectations. Are they perfect? No, but they work great for me and I like to think I understand them, which is important when you do 99% of your own maintenance.

GM has been great to me too.....they have put food on my table for my entire life lol
 
I'm not quite sure why people are are so down of Custer. Not EVERYBODY has it all figured out on day one, sometimes drivers need a while to come into their own, and he has shown a massive uptick in performance. I have no idea if it will translate to the next level, but other than Bell, who else has earned a shot to move up from Xfinity any more than Custer has?

I try my best to put personal bias aside and strive for consistency when being critical. I really don't even care about the deal with the 95 car. But after the Kenseth deal and the Furniture Row deal, your boy Gibbs won't usually get the benefit of the doubt. Fair or not, that's another conversation. But don't act like people just pick on Gibbs/TRD/Kyle for no reason.
 
There's a reason, and it's because they win.

There's also driver personalities/attitudes, shady business practices, excessive backstabbing, and the contractual "bounding" TRD does to 15-17yo drivers who will need to stay with Toyota to have any kind of driving career at all in their lives.

So no, I wouldn't say "winning" is why I don't like TRD/Gibbs/Kyle.

Even better imo. That tells me has a healthy base of experience to fall back on where he learned, struggled, developed, and eventually became a formidable opponent that was capable of a 7 win Xfinity season. That could prove useful in the transition to Cup competition, where you're less than likely to light the world on fire immediately.

Clint has pretty consistent sponsorship with Rush Truck Center, Blue DEF, Mobil 1, Cummins and Peak Anti Freeze. I am not sure what your angle is here, HAAS has rotated among all the SHR cars excluding the 4 this year.
 
That's one of the reasons, yes.

...and IMO they do that because they are willing to make brutal decisions--sometimes even unfair decisions....just like Roush, Childress, etc. To your previous post....you are damn right there is reason for scrutiny, but when it is littered with bias, it becomes stupid. I have always been upfront about my extreme bias while the dislikers pronounce "statements of fact." Some might see my posts as trolling....I see them as adding balance to an unbalanced assessment of big business in racing. To each his own.
 
Context is everything. If you don't understand the difference between the Dibenedetto and Stenhouse situations, it's only because you don't want to.

I was referring to the Buescher situation.
