Silly Season 2020

Brett moffit should get a shot with a good cup team. Look at his last 2 years in a truck he has 10 wins and counting.

Theoretically they should be really strong next year considering they have RCR stuff which is top notch in Xfinity ironically
 
I wish JTG would put Brett Moffitt in the 37. Hemric should go back to X or Trucks & Stenhouse is the perfect David Ragan 2.0 at FRM in the 38.

I'm kinda liking maybe Custer to cup with a SHR satalite and Ricky to the 00 Xfinity car.....renumbered ofcourse
 
Lol if JTG hires daniel Hemric they deserve to be a mid pack team. Stenhouse wouldn’t be a bad choice. Some schmuck on Reddit claims Stenhouse to the 41 is close but I highly doubt that’s happening

SHR is kind of in a unique situation. I could see Custer in the 41 next year if they choose to go that route, but for the 14 do you think they would put Ricky in that car over Clint? I know I wouldn't.

Not very bold prediction: at the start of the 2020 season, the SHR drivers lineup will be the same as it is now.

Pretty much true. I think the old days of a new guy showing up and winning multiple races immediately are long gone. It has been years and years since that happened. I think any of the new guys making it to cup would be lucky to make it to the first playoff round

Actually of late it seems like a large amount of success in the Xfinity series holds most drivers back. Not sure if it's the car's are so much different or the level of competition is so much higher. All of a sudden someone is racing them hard for 20th instead of just being able to blow through the field till they hit the top 5

Just off the top of my head, barring drivers that won Xfinity titles AFTER becoming Cup drivers, wasn't Truex the first Xfinity champion to win a Cup since Bobby Labonte? That's a long time between champions. I still chuckle at the fact that Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart have 14 Cup titles and a combined total of five wins as full time Xfinity drivers, and four of them came in one season with Gordon.

I doubt Bell lights the world on fire like that, I mean Erik Jones looked pretty good at KBM & JGR like Bell and it's taken him time. I have my doubts Custer will be in an SHR car.

"I spoke with JTG-Daugherty Racing car owner Tad Geschickter Sunday morning, and he candidly said the names everyone is most frequently mentioning to take over driving the No. 37 car are the drivers he's interested in speaking to -- specifically Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Daniel Hemric... from people I've spoken to, I think Stenhouse is the leading candidate."

Also, Jeff Gluck says Chris Buescher was compelled to notify Roush-Fenway if and when he became a free agent. When his JTG-D contract renewal deadline passed without the extension being finalized yet, Buescher notified Roush that he technically was a free agent. At that point, the RFR guys huddled internally and decided to open negotiations with Buescher. That has been termed a "Roush option," but it sounds to me more like a notification rather than a true team option.

They were talking about an "affiliate" car for Custer earlier. Who knows how good or bad that turns out. That's another question mark with Bell. At least we kinda know what Reddick is getting into.
 
I personally think when Bell and other hot prospects get to cup they are going to get the Danica treatment from most of the field.

.... people act as if Roush didn't give Ricky a fair chance or a fair notice they act as if it's three days before the 2020 Daytona 500 and he got dumped

JTG didn't can their driver after a year for someone else the manufacturer mandated; they actually wanted him back. Stenhouse had 7 frickin' years to demonstrate his abilities in hardware his teammate demonstrated was playoff-worthy.

No similarities to DiBenedetto. None. Quit trying to find them.

No one stole anybody. Chris was loaned out with conditions attached. JTG failed to negotiate a new contract within the time specified at which point Chris was obligated to notify RFR.
Maybe JTG should have done their due diligence to prevent this. Looks to me they were more interested in saving money than renewing Chris's contract.
Maybe they will have a better chance signing Ricky at a reduced rate.
 
Anyone else find it odd that Ally signed thru 2023 but they didn't announce a contract extension for JJ to coincide with that? I believe hes only signed thru 2020?

The only part that surprises me is learning JJ is on a contract and not the same open-ended handshake deal that Jeff worked under.
