Builder in Washington State gets $955 for his kit. Then you have to add the torque converter (200ish and pray/lots of junk out there) & $125-150ish of fluid. A reman from a parts store runs 1600-2000ish. I've spent maybe 400 for tools & two core trans. Plan is to build & sell one. Have only torn one down. Wasn't much in it reusable. Hoping don't find the same with the other although found couple eBay shops selling used parts with guarantee. The parts washer is a necessity to do much of any kind of work. I'm thinking, once I get fully prepared and do one or two, probably just pull & rebuild mine. It's still working fine. Just shifts getting a little softer. Plus mileage is adding up.

Problem with buying a rebuilt is...who rebuilt it? What did they actually replace? Probably the bare minimum of parts. Main thing is I don't trust anyone else's work. Even if I spend same as purchasing one, at least I'll KNOW how mine was done. Maybe take 2 hours to pull the trans laying on the ground. I ain't doing anything else.

These trans are 20ish years old. (96-2013?) TONS of them out there in Tahoe/Suburban/Pickups. Might do couple month and make enough to buy a new pink Cadillac.

The Flu---Do NOT recommend. Been avoiding people like the plague and the park owner brought over a big ole bowl of it. He said he'd been really sick but didn't seem to get the hint when I kept backing away from him. 4 hours later my eyeballs were trying to leave my skull. Then it got worse. Haven't been sick in 15 or so years if you don't count the 2016 bout of pneumonia. I swear, this was worse. How can your head be so hot your foam pillow melted and being vibrating from chills at same time? Had 5 layers of clothes, all the blankets I own, super thick sleeping bag over me. I was hot & cold at same time.

Then the looping fever dreams started. Stumble to bathroom...soon as closed eyes in bed, back into same MAD Magazine dream.

Plus the fact that when they figure out time travel, gonna be related to the Flu. Crawl from recliner to bedroom. "Sleep" 4 hours, go to drain the main vein, look at phone...it's actually only been18 minutes. Like the Jodie Foster movie Contact. Your perception is totally different than reality. NOT GOOD DRUGS!

Did put this together today. None of it is tight. Threaded some together by hand then couldn't get it apart to tape it. Need to get wrenches from shed. Maybe tomorrow. Vacuum test fixture. Still need a vacuum pump.

Flat on my back for two weeks then woke one morning feeling fit as a fiddle and decided to go back to work. Not my brightest decision. DUMB! Put me back in bed for another week. Of course, that was sixty years ago and not sure what point medical science had reached or what meds, if any, were available then.
Get flu shots every year and try to keep up to date with everything else. It's a fragile time of life for an old fart. Anyway, hope you feel better and are getting up and around. If I was closer I'd bring you a bowl of chicken soup.

I'm 90% up to par. Everyone I've mentioned this strain of flu to says takes couple weeks to get past the cough/chest situation. Guess I'll likely survive.

Bought six treated 2x8 off Marketplace. 50 bucks. Four are 12 foot, two 10 foot. So guess extension WILL be 10x12. Priced some of the other stuff will need @ 500ish dollar right across the road. Unfortunately doesn't include the outer sheeting, 9 sheets of T111 or something similar, around 300 buckeroos. OUCH!

Didn't plan to use 2x8 for the band board for floor but whatever. Since got those, 2x6 for floor joices. Probably wait till May to start wasting wood.

Just curious but are you putting down two treated runners ( 6 x 6 ) then placing floor joist or are you figuring on putting 2 x 6 treated direct contact with the ground? I would think it would be easier to level it up with runners but I'm a novice and know zilch about building a shed.

Runners. Probably 4x4 as think that's what's under original shed. They will be on some sort of concrete blocks so floor joist will be footish off ground. Original shed is on half-blocks with Oak wedge shims to level. Have 12 of these but be harder to level.

After some thought, since the floor will be bolted to the band board of OG shed can probably get away with maybe half dozen of those blocks? Build a squarish floor frame, with couple diagonal braces so doesn't fall apart being moved a little, bolt that to back of shed. Figure out the support blocks as add joists? With these blocks probably don't even need the runners. Should be about right height especially since using 2x8's. I'll be out there doing something next week if it quits raining. Will screw stuff together to start. Then when all figured out, NAIL GUN!!!

Shed was basically sitting on ground at previous location. I'd bet close to 20 years. Held up pretty well considering. Needs about 8" of siding replaced. I'll cut that 8ish inches of siding off and attach the new floor directly to band board of back wall. Will end up with 22 foot shed. Appears skids/runners are rough cut 2x4 sistered together? Lumber company is right across the road so easy enough to get materials quickly.

First picture is side. Can see where the floor is as siding is rotted from being in the weeds. About 6 inches up from bottom.

Meh. Where the floor is doesn't really show up in pictures. It's where you see some holes popping thru T111. I can't tell is the runners are 4x4 or sistered 2x4 but really doesn't matter. If it ever gets moved, it's because I died.

I won't care if it crumbs like house of cards then.

Original shed floor is 2x6 band boards 2x4 joist.

Finally facing up to fact I can't do the gambrel roof. No way can I lift full sheets of OSB that high. So...likely add 6" or so to wall height and have 24" ish rise regular roof. That will leave plenty of loft space.

Hate the 10 foot width. Just no room. Like to add 10 foot 3 times. End up with 20x20 building but doubt the park owner would like that. Doesn't seem to mind if add to porch. Suppose could move bunch of stuff out of shed that way? Possible opening date is June 2035.

Sold BowFlex for 50 bucks. Drove 90 miles to Woodland NC and bought 11 gambrel truss for 50 bucks. They are 11 foot 3.5" wide. Add 2x12 to top plate and should fit. Have 8ish inch overhang. Put "ribs" under 2x12 on outside of wall under each rafter/truss. Wait till next month to start building anything so can get siding. That way should have it essentially done in couple days assuming I don't stroke out in the process.

Got couple extra others. All one price. Anyone know how to translate this? This is from truss I'll be using. Be nice to know exactly what the width is supposed to be. They be pretty flexible. May add gussets or a stringer.

Got some lumber & two treated 4x4 for skids. Moved lumber onto trailer to get some weight off porch. After some thought... probably should move rest of 3/4 OSB onto trailer too. Decisions decisions. Need to go get new tarp. This one is years old and coming apart. Well over 10 years old.

Bought a new tarp. Put all the lumber & OSB on trailer. Put it where shouldn't have to move it again till done. Need 14ish more twelve foot 2x4's for wall framing and 14ish sheets of siding. Wall studs are 6 foot. So...12~2=6. Bought spruce 2x4 as they said it's easier to work with, lighter, less splitting, gets 5G. Plus paint, caulk, construction adhesive, maybe more nails?

Theoretically possible MIGHT build something next month? The painting will take almost as much time as building stuff.

Shortening some boards. Gonna build floor & walls. Then see what it takes to adapt 11 foot 3&1/2" truss to 10 foot span. According to my maths could use 2x12 for top plate. Since plans are "back of an envelope that only exists in my mind"...hard to get solid measurements out of that mess. Need 2 or 3 more treated 2x8x10 for floor. Maybe get them tomorrow?

Meh. Getting too hot for me. Need to figure out how to make the 4x4 runners work. The old shed has 2x6 band boards with 2x4 floor joist setting on 4x4. Probably going to rip my 2x8's down to 2x6 and notch for the runners. Be nice if had a table saw. I have entirely too many fingers anyway. Sure wish could locate that file with the plans. <there IS no such file...just cobwebs where used to be a brain> The insanity is spreading. Now when go to McDonald's for breakfast the group of old folks eat with will, about every 3 minutes, somebody will ask, "did I hear you are building a shed"?

Everybody laughs. I think it's funny too. I am definitely obsessed. Maybe possessed?

Did I mention how much I suck at this stuff? Did finally remember most efficient way to use miter saw. Put on porch bench. The hand rails are one 2x4 (1.5") from perfect height to support outfeed. I screwed a one foot L-block to hand rail to use as stop block. Slide saw over to get measurement. Only used that function to get 116 & 3/4 floor joist cut. Have holes in bench to to mount saw. Will use those for shorter stuff, clamp or screw stop-block down to something.

Need some pavers and few of the 4x12? solid blocks to get height correct. Really don't have the money right now. Get 300ish of stuff first of the month. Really need to get paint & caulk before I start putting walls up/siding on.

May have to go back to doing porn.

Did some experimenting. Not sure if gonna buy more 2x8 or what. Screwed together. Lots of warpage. 4x4 runners aren't in place. Meh...still thinking. Can't get more materials till the 3rd.

Think will just use 2x8's for perimeter. Buy four 2x4 for center section. Make it much easier to get skids in place. The skids are kind of a technicality. Much prefer a shed sit on skids AND blocks under walls. Maybe get joist hangers? Have the palm sized.

I will never move it. Landowner is 85. Sure doubt he will.

Put everything away. Too damn hot to do anything anyway. I'm on hold until either buy 2x4's or rip the 2x8's. Hate ripping them.

Tomorrow remove couple of the 2x8's and rip them down to 3.5 inches. I want to get the floor down so can figure out the truss. May try to build a frame of sorts to put tarp over to get shade? Have a 10x10 knock-off EZ-Up. Just feel like it will be in the way. Can get roll of 10 foot x 250 foot house wrap for 50 bucks. See if have enough 2x4's to build at least 2 walls. Cover with house wrap. Get new section of 5 of 6 rafters up...if can get walls solid go ahead and sheet the roof and put underlayment on. Only be working few hours day. All this will take the 10 days till I have money to get rest of materials.

Removed couple of the 2x8's to rip this evening. Was just too hot for me to do much. No reason to rush.

Ripped one 2x8. About 1/2 way saw kicked back. Fairly unusual with circular saw. Didn't think to much about it. As got within about 18 inches from end had to move board. That's when I noticed it had crossed it's legs. Insane warpage. The cut end had fully overlapped. Once done, very nice pine banana's. Unbelievable warpage. Unusable. Maybe use for blocking? So anyway, cobbled the 4x4 skids in place. Will temporarily put the two banana 2x4 in place so can put 3 sheets of OSB in place. Just few screws. Layout the rafters.
