Storage building

Damn! Just when I had high hopes you were going to start getting out and moving body parts around.
I'll get going again. Lost my mojo for week or so.

Went and picked up another transmission. Was in Warsaw. Had to do considerable caulking of my truck so didn't sink in a squall but made the trip. 60 bucks. While loading converter fell out, not an issue, and it appears to be a brand new reman. Trans is spotless. Don't know if just a good pressure washing or if been rebuilt. Guy had purchased to use but changed his mind. He doesn't really know if it's broken or not. I'll eventually tear it down. Have two need to disassemble and inspect.

Probably end up removing/replacing roof of shed so have more room before doing anything with trans. Think have everything but some drip edge to do roof of existing structure.. Will leave long overhang on back end. Then when build addition be able to match it up. Use peel & stick gravel surfaced underlayment as temp roof. Shingle in the spring after rest is built.

I'm tossing around possibility of reusing roof. If can "flip it over" to get it off and not damage, use it to swole the whole thing up. Make shed 16?-18?-20? foot wide. Once get the barn rafters up can see if will work. Not sheet lower leg of rafter. Tie old roof to it. Like said, need to get a rafter or three stood up to see what can do. Be nice if could do one side as a lean-to so could park truck under. Black truck has the paint cooked off roof & hood. Yikes!

Uncovered the bones of this wreck. Trimmed the 12 foot 2x4 down to...?

12 foot! My OCD brain couldn't handle them being 1/2ish inch over 12 foot. Need to measure and mark center point so can attach to rafters. And now remember partly why I quit on this. The gambrel rafters I have are somewhat misshapen. I think technically supposed to be 11 foot 3.5 inches. WHY THE EXTRA &^%$& 3.5? For that matter...11 foot? Whhhhhhyyyyy????????

People tend to build on even numbers. Just fits together easier with less cutting. You'd think would be built to span 8 or 10 or 12 or...you get the point. Whhhhhhyyyyy 11 foot? Barn style don't do overhang very well. I have seen them., Short walls. 70% of shed is roof. Me no likey that style.

So...gonna attach rafters to 12ish foot 2x4, set on 10 foot span. WILL create a normal overhang of 7.5ish inches if my maths are correct. Plus creates loft space floor joices. Plywood gusset the ends. Otay buckwheat? Find center, which is 6ft, of twelve foot long 2x4. Draw a vertical line 40ish inches up from 2x4. Now set rafter lining up peak with centerline. Screw small 2x4 blocks to work surface on both sides of rafter. Create a pattern don't you see.

Otay Buttwheat...we have problem. Some rafters, if you measure the span, are 11 foot 2 inches, some are 11 foot 3.5, some are 11 foot 4.5 and some are a mix of that. Mix you say? WTF does that mean? <insert the Seinfeld blooper here>. If you put peak on centerline and set ends against the 2x4, should have 4ish inches of the 12 foot 2x4 sticking out past the end of rafter. If "peak" of rafter is fouled on surface by pattern blocks, center of rafter is...wait for it...centered! In a perfect world, ends would be say 4 inches from end of 12 foot 2x4. Still with me?

Drop rafter in patter and pry the crooked azz end over the 12 foot 2x4. Should HAVE o do any prying...but on we go. Ain't ths FUUUUUN! Rafter is in upper pattern. Ends are setting on 12 foot 2x4...one side is 4.5 inches from end, other 3 inches. HOOOOOW! Because they weren't pressed together correctly. 3 or 4 are obviously messed up. Another 3-4 maybe run a screw thru the joint and pull it?

Or, pry the mending plates off and just put it where I want/it needs to go? Going to gusset anyway. Am I overthinking this? Just a little?

YES! It's what I do. I think the cuts are 22.5 degrees. Some of the joints aren't tight/are tweaked. Just have to make up my mind how to make it work. The rafters I originally intended to build use 4 pieces of 2x4, 46 inches long i think. Ones I have are 2-50" and 2-36 or something like that. Creates a higher loft space and more vertical lower roof section. It's possible end up using them for firewood and just build my own. Like I started to do.

Ok. Stewed on it today. Know the path forward. I'll try to completely disassemble the truss and make them fit. Get them to 11 foot? Like the idea of an overhang. Question about disassembly is how much damage the 2x4's will incur. Also considering not assembling them into a 11 foot span. Leave them in two 5ish foot sections. Possibly build with a ridge pole. Unusual in sheds but makes the roof peak nice and flat. The old roof looks like a 30 y/o workhorse. Probably 4" sag over 10 foot length. Was approaching a flat roof at middle. Very poor build design though so not surprising.

Maybe tear some zhit up tomorrow? Worst case, use some part of them to build my own.

I did a thing. Dome light switch been broken for years. I will say one thing, if could do my cataract surgery over, would choose close-up vision be priority. Just sucks not being able see to do much of anything. Glasses correction don't really work considering you tend to look up/down away from the correction area. Meh. At least speed of getting stuff done is fairly irrelevant although REALLY tough on my brain. Just frustrated. But dome light works again. I'd forgotten it has about 10 second delay. Thought replacement switch was no good. Also forgot the module leaves accessory power on until dome light goes off. Shut truck off, toss keys in door pocket, roll windows down little. Cause always forget to roll them down...like little air flow thru.

Had to drop the underpanel as couldn't get hand around corner next to fuse panel even with it moved to plug switch in. But she works now! Probably 1/2 hour job. One problem is the junk sockets I have. Too much lead-in taper. Just won't stay on screw.

Serious considering scrapping the barn rafters. Really like to have a ridge pole. Maybe 6/12 pitch roof with 8-10 inch overhang? Leave plenty of room for some loft space.

Trying something. Used upper section of the barn style, cut my own lowers. If stack on 2x4 as shown, 3.5 inch overhang. Perfect. Now have to build a jig to make sure they all the same. To be clear, 2x4 span board as shown is 12 foot. Not sure if shorten before assembly or after in place. Want to install gutters. Think take one inch off. Use 2x6 for facia.

Made short boards out of long boards. If could figure out the formula to reverse that process get rich. Need to chop up the old truss now. For some reason can't cut a 2x4 with circular saw without it kicking back in last 1/2 inch. Scary as fawk. Binding it up. Need some foam and sawhorse so have sacrifical surface so it's absolutely flat. Back said ENOUGH YOU FOOL!🤪 Doesn't take long especially if have to bend over and pick stuff up. Smart man would avoid throwing stuff on the ground, amiright?🧐😂🤣

Talking about using circular saw to cut truss down so don't have to wrestle them into porch for sliding miter saw. Dangles and all. Twenty two and a half dangles.

Tortured my back again. Think this jig will work. Now need to cut the gussets and finish first one. From there it's throw three pieces in the slots and nail gussets on. Probably won't do connection to spanner 2x4 yet. Just leave this one screwed down so have consistent marks to line up too. Maybe add 2 more blocks?

Had dentist appointment for 2PM today. First visit. So I got there at 1:30. Obviously new building with paper over inside of windows. Where you could see, building was empty except maybe 20 feet across center. Circle building. What appears to be entrance door has sign that says CLOSED! No hours or explanation. I call. Apparently number I called is some sort of network phone bank. She has no idea about anything. Tells me to call again but select a different option...

OK...NOW I'm pissed. I tell her, have 2 o'clock appointment (I'd selected "ask about appointments", she wanted me to do something different) am sitting in parking lot. Their website said be at least 15 minutes early which is quite normal.

She says, maybe they at lunch? OK. See ya.

Went home. Actually went to Food Lion and phone rang 2 minutes after 2. She says, are you on the way for your 2PM appointment? Nope. BTDT. Nobody home. She replied, we were at lunch. Told her cancel. I was there & nothing indicated you were actually open for business. Building is obviously still under construction. Maybe get a sign that says, Open X-Y, Closed for lunch from 1-2? Or whatever.

Last went to Smiles Of Carolina in Knightdale and absolutely no idea why I didn't go back? Just a brain fart. Been having those waaay too often. Not liking that very much.

Forgot to mention, gas station less than 10 miles away, 2.89 i think. Local, still 3.25. That's worth the trip especially if need to go near anyway.

Washed my truck in the yard. That was a waste of 40 some minutes. Needs buffed & waxed and probably just painted. NC sun is hard on Black paint. Roof not as smooth as 32 grit sandpaper. Hood appears to be flat black. Need to replace RH rear cab corner panel. Meh. It's paid for and wheels still roll. Supposed to get windshield replaced next month. Been broke for 20 years, Be nice to have rear view mirror again. Glue on tab won't stay on old windshields. Glass guy told m one time the sun changes the composition of the glass. Seals the pores basically. Nothing for the glue to get ahold of. IDK. Tried at least 1/2 dozen times. Wouldn't stay long enough to get seatbelt on. Maybe shouldn't have seatbelt wrapped around it tho?

Wally has neighbor that does glass. Half what cost here in NC. New glass is crazy clear and need all the help I can get with glare. Be curious to see how long this one lasts. Be 3rd or 4th.

Headed to Myrtle Beach Wed morning. Get within 60 miles and got call from Wally (friend). Truck driver dropped windshield. Broke right down the middle. Think have another Monday. Turned around and came home. Go again next Wed assuming he has a one-piece windshield.

So...went to dentist, nextdoor to MyEyeDr at 11AM this morning. 11AM into the dungeon, out the door at 11:47 less three teeth. While not exactly fun, pretty painless and efficient. MA Plan paid everything.

Made eyedoc appointment to get new glasses. Been wearing cheap Amazon Progressives for a year to be able to see to read. Get a professionally made pair. MA Plan pay for frames but I pay for lens. Nearly 400 bucks. OUCH!

Still kicking. No coffee. No tea. Sips of water and even worse, salt-water rinse after eating anything. Been taking couple Ibuprofen every 6=8 hours. Be happy to eat a Biscuit & Gravy end of next week. Scrambled egg this morning. Pudding & Jello to maintain my sleek figure.

Dental pain is basically same I've had for several years and just ignored. Hopefully by Wed or so will subside. The whole Dry Socket deal is the worry. Just dull ache so far. Never felt need to ice. I'm probably due for Ibuprofen? Maybe have to start writing it down. Don't like taking too much. Make tooth feel good, liver feel bad!

I can see clearly now broken windshield is gone! One he took out had some degree of tint. New one is clear...as glass! Very very nice. Watched him do it. Not his first one that's for sure. Maybe 30 minutes and wasn't in a hurry. Fact his arms are size of my thighs make everything easy. Plus having professional glass repair tooling helps. Battery powered caulking gun was pretty slick.

If you guys think I ramble you should spend couple days with my buddy. Sweet Jesus can he talk. His wife works out-of-town so he spends whole week, or sometimes weeks, alone. Done little of everything. Ex-Army so all kinds of stories. Retired. Learning to slow down and occasionally do absolutely nothing. He's a good dude. Didn't cost me a dime. Wouldn't take my money. I'll figure out a way to pay it back.

Little choppy & breezy today.

I be drooling. Another 4L60E available close by. Close being 20ish minutes away. Price right too. Core. Have eye doc appointment Thursday. Need to stack 400ish dollhairs for them. Be next month to pick them up. Really don't NEED another unknown core. You never know if anything will be reusable in them.

Really need to spend that money on shed building materials, don't I. Dam it!!!

Run of trigger thumb converted me to what I'll call a vertical trackball mouse. Thought possibly having thumb bent basically all day helped induce the trigger thumb. Bought a fairly high dollar Bluetooth which maybe lasted 6 months. While still works, the scroll wheel skips and jumps around. Replaced with cheaper one. It ate batteries. Was just changing battery, only uses one, ground spring popped out. I can't see little stuff to attempt to fix it. In the trash she goes.

Using rechargeable regular style have for laptop. I'll get another of some sort next month. Think the trackball style is right way to go. Look for a rechargeable this time.

They hacked my bank account. Of course banks are closed today and the fraud # tells you they too busy. Call back later. Do I sue JGR or Legacy?

I suspect my trip to SC got me at the gas station. But still might be Preacher Joe. I may end up paying for that windshield, indirectly. $258.71 at WalMart Bentonville AR it says. Had this attempt before but BoA caught it. Holiday today maybe threw monkey wrench in it?

Finally got fraud dept to answer phone. All done. New card on the way. Said multiple attempts to pull money thru Walmart. Probably won't get credited back before end of the week tho.

Got most of it back. Another charge for 34.45 popped up. Says WalMart which seems to be the standard skimmer deal thing. Called BoA and got it rolling on that one. The total of the two is the original amount. So have 200ish bucks but only way can spend it is to write a check or make withdrawal at bank. Google/YouTube Premium be big mad cause debit card is junked. New card is on the way though. No way to change the transaction. It's card only. Probably should get a credit card of some sort for emergencies/back-up?

This might be to my benefit in a way.

Eye Doc appointment this evening. Lens gonna be close to 400 bucks. Needed to hang on to $250ish this month. Got taken out of my hands! Pickup glasses 3rd ish of Nov or whenever they ready. I be styling again! It is crazy that what are essentially reading glasses gonna be "$800ish". MA Plan pays up to $400 for frames. Patient pays for lens. Be nice if that 400 just got credited to purchase but nope. Then would end up owing maybe 150ish for lens? Whatever.

Made it back home. Love going to doc and not paying a dime! SOCIALISM FOR ALL! Didn't order glasses. After poking around GlassesUSA...$196 for wireframe progressive.

Meh.

Pair from eye doc I trust will be right @ 400 I believe. Have week or two to thunk on it.

There is no panic. 20 years with a broken windshield. Let's not make any rash decisions.

Think will get pair from GlassesUSA and see how they go. Do really like NOT wearing glasses. So now tend to put on, take off, all day long. Wire frames tend to chew up my nose. Plastic frames, for me, seem to get broken too often. Maybe put the cheapo Amazon wearing right now in shed. Leave "good pair" in my truck. Have two pairs of these cheapie's. Options. I like options.

Just want everyone to know how often I edit my posts now. Trying to be better. Less poking the bear. It really serves no porpoise...

^^^let's see who gets that^^^

Still waiting for Debit Card. Mailed 16th. Main concern is new mail delivery person. Been scattering it all over the county. Need to pay Verizon phone. It's a prepaid. I'm cheap like that. 38 bucks month. I use nearly no data cause everywhere I go, Wi-Fi!🤪 Verizon only takes debit/credit card for payment. No option to enter bank account. So...if card doesn't show up today have to buy a reloadable " fake" debit card. Can write a check to get that. Ummm? Wonder how you put money on the card? Pay 100 for the card and 95ish gets applied? Lady at register didn't know. IDK. Research. I'll do my own research!🧐🤪😂🤣

Inconclusive. Not sure if can add a gift card to Verizon account? Not really sure if I add money to account they won't still try to run the debit. Guess shut off auto pay and see what happens. Worst case, lose account & end up with new number. Meh. Then have to update everything on the Internetz. OMG! CALL THE PENTAGRAM!

Lesson learned? Take cash on trips. Put debit card in Faraday cage and wrap that in 12 layers of foil. Maybe just leave it at home frozen in bowl of Jello?

I'm so out-of-the-loop about payment options anymore. Used to have a paypal account. Think they closed it due to inactivity? Letz me see?

Nope. Says can do but won't accept the Verizon account copypasta from the website. I don't farking know. Grocery stores apparently no longer have the "reload cards". Have to go to a Verizon store. My PayPal says restricted to due to suspicious activity on guess what? Bank debit card # xyz.

If I ever get this sheet fixed, will definitely make sure have at least 2 back-ups for everything. What a pain in the deek. All because my friend tried to do something nice.

BAZINGA!

Spent 20 minutes seeking around BoA...finally found way to get virtual debit card. Went to Verizon and entered.

I surrender. Be a new phone & possibly provider once I get debit card. HAVE a virtual card. Can't make it work for Verizon PREPAID phone. Went to bank. 6-7 people ahead of me going thru the door. Got inside, had to be 15 people waiting. Have a greeter with an iPad strpped to her hand. She tried to help me but since my phone is an Android, she was lost. They are iApple focused. Card says it's activated I just can't figure out how to use it. Old brains learn slow. It's on me I'm sure. Getting all kinds of messages saying need to update card.
