Uh Oh...Cheater cheater pumpkin eater...L1 for the 4 team

what the heck? That doesn't make a bit of sense. Nailing three of them to the wall almost assures the fact that the teams will be changing their minds about trying anything freaky for Phoenix. They caught SHR, Penske, and Gibbs cheating. I would say Nascar sent a message. In case anybody forgot, they call Nascar the sanctioning body. (those L1's are sanctions)

Aero cheats are probably not needed at Phoenix, or at least not needed as much as they will be at a mile and a half.

One of the big 3 won't be in the title race. Now it'll probably be Logano, Truex, Busch and Elliott.

I'll probably watch ice hockey or some sh!t that day.

As much as I'd love it, Elliott isn't making up 17 points to Harvick AT PHOENIX. KuBusch may sneak in, but not Chase. He's essentially win or go home, so you're pretty safe.

I hear that, it is going to take something big. Harvick has won 6 out of the last 10 races at Phoenix, and the other four of the ten his worst finish is 6th.

Has ISM been reconfigured?

This is something the laser system doesn’t detect and the teams know it. I would be willing to bet $$$ that Harvick’s car wasn’t the only one like that on Sunday.

There is no tech the week following Homestead. Cars go to R&D center in the week prior to the Homestead race. NASCAR then does a full teardown at track Sunday night, where it determines if there are any failures.

They took 1st, 2nd, and 4th for further inspection. All of the cars inspected failed. So why didn't they take 3rd place too. All of these cars passed pre, and post race inspection. If it was not detectable by the eye, why would they assume 3rd place was in compliance? I am a curious as to why 3rd got a pass.

Yeah I'm aware. What I'm saying is I feel like NASCAR is a bit more lenient on the finalists in the final weekend. Obviously this is just a theory.

A widely held theory, and one that has even had knowledgeable insider comments here supporting it. It is rather obvious that NASCAR prefers the Homestead Bowl to come down to the four finalists racing each other for the win and the title, and it is not unreasonable to believe they are willing to encourage this in various ways. A vast conspiracy is not required.

Regarding this penalty, I am in 100% support of how NASCAR handles these issues, with one exception. What the complainers about "finding out on Wednesday" aren't taking into account is the sophistication involved, and how much worse it would be if officials were forced to rush to make final calls on Sunday, which could lead to errors and incorrect penalties.

The exception is that I believe penalties should be spelled out more clearly. They still tend to make up these points penalties as they go, and that is problematic.

Waiting till Wednesday gave me a wonderful mid week smile ... an ear to ear smile

Top 2 then a random draw

Who would think that this was a good idea this close to the end of the season?
This was a colossally stupid action by somebody.
If I was Tony, there would be heads rolling.

That's what I'd like to know, too.
Yeh someone has to take a hit for this, like "what were you thinking" kind of thing.

I just hope Brian can get reinstated before the Daytona 500 and straighten every thing out.

Rear window and now this. Not really hard to figure out why the 4 Team has been doing as well as it has been doing. More than likely why NASCAR dropped the hammer on the them and why SHR said we aren't going to appeal this. Better to walk away and live to fight another day. Course that might be hard if you can't cheat.

If they would suspend Harvick the cheating would stop.
No way this should go down in the books as a win and should get zero winnings.

Spoiler passing pre and post race tech, then tearing the car down in R&D and finding a nonapproved spoiler.

NASCAR is just picking on the top Ford team.

Brutal man. I still very much like his chances to make it though so maybe you'll still get to go. The killer to me is losing Childers for Homestead, that's a place where you need a guy like him.
I think he manages to get in too, but yeah I can't imagine not having Rodney on the box next weekend. Killer. Smdh at this.

So you want to suspend a driver for something he may not have known about?

Yes, that is why the 4 team will not appeal
So why did he get docked 40 points for the EXACT SAME infraction, and two other teams only were docked 20? The winner does not get 20 more points than 2nd place.

Anyone remember that time the Patriots won the AFC Championship and three days later, the NFL reviewed the game and decided a penalty should have been called on the Patriots' game winning TD and encumbered it, thus advancing the Ravens to the Super Bowl?

I have no clue but maybe they fine bullies more points :lol2:

He made 60 points, blew them away, but their L1 penalty only gave them 40 points maximum fine. :D:D:p The other two didn't have much 20 was as bad or worse to them.

Anyone remember that auto racing and football have little to nothing to do with each other?

Even so, many major sports do strike winners from the books long after the fact. Think NCAA violations and doping penalties. It's the correct way. Anything else prioritizes entertainment over sport. NASCAR should strip wins and all associated rewards as well.
