ADF I heard back from Skip. He's game for the winter discussion. We just need to decide whether it's gonna be here or 4M and not scatter it out. LOL
I need to go re read the earlier stuff so I don't talk about all the same things again. I'm getting older and might make that mistake

I've already decided that part, it's gonna be on here! 4M will delete it every week and I want to try and save this stuff again (I'll need your help on that probably? I've got the CD burner now but you'll need to tell me how to save web pages. I know there's nothing to it, but I'm from Arkisaw! LOL) So once everyhting winds down we'll have another SW MO racing history thread. I'll get ahold of Ronnie Williams and Duane and try to get them over here and involved. Oh and don't worry about telling the same stories, there will be new people on here hopefully and they might jar someones memory and shake some new info out of them! Hopefully Chrisdirtracer can get his Mom and Dad in on this as well.

Ok. I've let Skip know. Now get the others to come and we'll have a racy winter. LOL

I didn't put in Looney or Vaught they have always burned me at MARS races usually driving the car too hard and messing up, but it is great to see them up at the top of the field

Hi Guys
Thanks to NVSSEI I found ya :)
I think it was Dale Roper that told me a few weeks ago that there was a Vaught that may have what it takes. Any truth to it?

Good race last night, was hoping that Frye would get the win. Hes been getting good at getting 2nd. Its time for a win.

I think they need to watch out for the Fryedaddy in the next month, he sure has been running good here lately....

Ok Frank, Skip made it. Now you've got to get Ronnie and the others here
I even changed my avatar to pay homage. :beerbang:

Do we want to wait until Skip isn't so busy or go for it now? I was hoping to start it after racing season when we haven't got anything else to do but BS, but it's up to you all. If we start soon I'll try to get the others on here ASAP.

Oh and I'll set up a new thread and hopefully just post old stories in it and keep all the VT and SWMO stuff in this one.

Oh Bruce, are you still going to try and make it over here the weekend after Labor Day? If so I'll do my best to get up to Monett that Sunday night and meet up with you.

Wow Bruce, now thats a classic.
I go to Loudon Monday and Fontana Thursday, but I will try to keep up.
By the way Cbork23 say hi to Mike Hackworth for me will ya?

Well I would but I don't see him anymore. He cheated on my Mom so lets just say we had a funeral for him

Frank, I'll be in MO from Sept 5 tp Sept 19. I plan on being at Monett both Sundays if it doesn't rain. I just wish they would have Late Models too although from what you all say the USMTS modifieds put on a great show.
I just noticed that Lebanon is having their season championship the second weekend. Maybe we can meet at the modified show in Monett the first weekend and I can go to Lebanon the second weekend.

Hey Skip, I think we ought to wait until you get through with your NASCAR season to start this thing. I think you need to be a part of this one and you're too busy right now to enjoy it probably.

I didn't know the mods were at Monett during Sept. Yeah we'll have to get together at that race. All the races they've had around here and I've yet to see them. I hear they're something else.

Next Sunday 4 state championship Monett MARS late models the next Sunday USMTS
@ all three tracks...

Awsome pics cbork, thanks for sharing. Man wish I could remember some of those early races my parents took me to. Those were the good ole days of racing.

While we're in a nostalgic mood.I seen the guy that got it all started for me yesterday.Worked with him in the hay field in all my high school years summers in the early 70's.He would go every saturday night to Tri-State and most Fridays to Crawford County.I had to go see what the big deal was.Boy am I glad I did.He would go to Thunderbird at Muskogee and I remember thinking that was like a forever drive to a race, now look at me a hour and a half drive is like in my back yard.LOL
Told him Moyer won the Topless and he asked me how TP did and then Larry,He didn't know he had past on.The last time he had asked about him he was still going strong.

Talk about old days my first dirt track was Humansville Speedway...Anyone ever heard of that one..Talk about a small bullring but it put on some great shows in the 60's and early 70's.......

Nope not going to West Plains, I don't like missing any MARS races but with the good gas prices just going to Monett, heck it cost me $14 just to go to Lebanon Saturday night and I live close, not that it's going to break me or anything it just makes me mad when I go to the gas pumps....

Now you know gas prices are bad if GRT doesnt go to a MARS race at West Plains, lol

I think we all need to get together and build a solar powered bus, that we can pick everyone up and go to whatever race we want, lol.

That works for me, but it doesn't get a lot better time wise for me. There is no offseason left really.

4M/VT Midwest Challenge Racefest Update

“Racefest 2005” Update

First things first, with the crash of 4M on the first night of “Racefest 2005”, an emergency plan had to be put in place. The Group site played it’s part in getting everyone together for the most part. I want to thank everybody for checking in as that is one of the reasons it was developed for in the first place. Luckily I was “googleing” around the week before and came across another vBulliten forum, Racing-forums. I set up a thread on there and we somewhat got together on it over the first weekend. As for now we will keep the new forum going as well as 4M. The new forum is faster and has a few more features 4m don’t offer, but basically it’s the same thing. If you haven’t already, please bookmark this site for future reference as 4M will probably go down again in the not to distant future, it seems it always has it’s problems this time of year. We will use this site for SW Mo. Racing News as well if need be. Just post your SW MO. interest on the VT thread. This way we can all stay in touch and STILL give everyone a hard time even without a 4M! Here’s the address for Racing-forums:

http://www.racing-forums.com

What was planned to be a jam packed update for “Racefeest 2005” has turned into the announcement that the drought has ended! Well, I can’t say that for sure but it seems everyone here in the Midwest has got some rain if you live near a racetrack. I was planning on giving the top 5 for each race but instead I found myself typing “RAIN OUT” more often than not. Here’s what I did come up with over Racefest week, which isn’t much. I wouldn’t consider Racefest a failure especially after seeing how good the “Sizzlin’ Summer Challenge” went off without a hitch. Hopefully we can try to get Racefest again next year instead of “Rainfest”. Look for an announcement in the near future concerning another mini-challenge that was put together once I seen Racefest was in trouble.

Racefest Notes:
Sozo chiseled his name into the record book as the first player to win a Racefest race picking up the win for the SMRS race at Bolivar and setting the pace early. Saturday night Aug. 6th, Sozo had the most points for the night(210) in the MARS and MLRA races combined, to extend his early lead. After the MARS race at Monett on the 7th, the points really started to tighten up as Nvssei and Jet66 had really good scores for this race. After Monday’s WDRL race, Jet66 take over the top spot in the mini challenge while Cbork23 jump to second, both just ahead of Sozo. Tuesday marked another first as the WDRL race at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN became the first Racefest race to be cancelled, the first of many this week due to rain. After Wednesday’s WDRL race we had another change at the top as Cbork23 positioned himself at the point. Rain and cancellations took out a good portion of Racefest beginning Thursday; no less than 5 races were called off because of rain or cancelled for other reasons. The SMRS race was the only one to get in during the Thursday through Saturday stretch run and was the only series NOT to lose a race to the weather.

The official final “Racefest 2005” point standings:

1. Cbork23-820
2. Sozo, Jr.-725
3. Fetllmn-715

Friends, when you go to Bolivar, Lebanon or Monett to the races and you may be wondering who that is in a certain car, I bet if you buy a Speedway Program you’ll find out. Chalked full of info and results from the previous weeks races and up to date points from all three of the tracks. Also a good source to find out what’s happening on the Challenge’s Show Me Racing Series. And when any special comes to one of these tracks, you can bet they’ll have the story, pictures and results in next weeks program. And they try to get a drivers list going so you can be aware of what’s going on during one of these specials as well! Sold at all three SW MO tracks, Speedway Programs is one of the best ways to find out what’s happening on the Southwest Missouri racing scene. Give ’em a try, and for only a dollar, you won’t be dissatisfied. That’s Speedway Programs.

4M/VT Midwest Challenge Update #19

4M/VT Midwest Challenge
Aug. 29,2005
Week 19 Update

With only 2 races being ran this past weekend, points were a valuable commodity in the 4M/VT Midwest Challenge. The TORA race scheduled for Oklahoma City was canceled leaving only the MLRA race at Lebanon, MO’s Midway Speedway and the SMRS race at Springfield (MO)Raceway Park as the only two scoring races. Both races were held Saturday night, August 19th.

In the SMRS action from Springfield, SMRS and overall point leader Jet66 picked up yet another win, his 15th on the season. His score of 175 pts. were enough to sneak by both Pictureman and Opp88 at the line, each placing 170 pts. in their total column. Dennis1964, Nvssei and Cbrown each scored 160 pts. to round out the upper tier scorers. After this week the top five in the point standings got a little shook up and now look like this:
1. Jet66-2140
2. Nvssei-2005
2. Opp88-2005
4. Pictureman-1940
5. Cbork23-1865

When the racing action at the Midway Speedway was concluded, Marshfield, Missouri’s own GRT44c found himself occupying victory lane all by himself, celebrating the win and showing off his175 points share of the total purse. Current MLRA point leader Cbrown finished second and tacked another 165 points onto his leading score. Cbork23, Riku and RikusAngel each scored 155 points for the event and finished filling out the podium positions for this race. The point standing tightened up a little after this weekend.
1. Cbrown-2390
2. Fetllmn-2025
3. Cbork23-2020
4. Jet66-2000
5. Dennis1964-1915

This weeks top performers were Cbrown(325), Cbork23(310), GRT44c(310), RikusAngel(310) and Pictureman(305).

4M/VT Midwest Challenge Update #20

4M/VT Midwest Challenge
Aug. 29,2005
Week 20 Update

I’m finally getting an update for the 4M/VT Midwest Challenge out on time. Our official scorekeeper has been busy on getting the Missouri State Fair races taken care of the past couple of weeks and had more important things to do than work on points for the Challenge. I’m glad to hear the Fair races were a success and the folks up that way now know why they asked him to put this venture together. Don’t be surprised if they come knocking at your door next year Clint, if they haven’t already! I tried to keep everyone abreast of what was going on but didn’t want to give out to much information just in case I didn’t get it right.

This past weekend MARS put on two shows in the Show Me State of Missouri for the only races in the Challenge. Friday night the 26th, the fans saw Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas take the win in the Missouri Dirt Track Championship race at the Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, MO. Saturday night the27th, the MARS racers headed over to the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO. This race was won by MARS point leader Terry Phillips out of Springfield, MO. Tery had to come from deep in the field and overtook Bill Frye in the late stages of the race for the win.

Current Challenge point leader Jet66 took the win formteh Bolivar race scoring 190 pts. Dennis1964 took second place honors with 185 pts. Atie fro third among 75Phillipsfan, RikusAngel and Opp88 rounded out the top race scorers. These players each scored 170 pts. for this event.

Saturday nights action saw a hole new top five players taking high point honors showing the parity of the players in this years Challenge. Budweiser took home the winners share of points with 195. Nvssei finished second gathering up 180 markers along the way. Pictureman and Chrisdirtracer65802 tied for third with 170 pts. Fetllmn took the fifth highest score with a 170 point night. The top 5 in the MARS points look like this after this weekend:
1. Jet66-2420
2. Fetllmn-2365
3. Cbork23-2005
4. GRT44c-2345
5. Riku-2295

This weeks top performers were Pictureman(335), 75Phillipsfan(325), Jet66(320), RikusAngel(320) and Nvssei(315).

MARS Cup:
What a battle we have going on for the MARS Cup this year! Going into this weekends events, Cross2(2530)1 had a pretty substantial lead in the Chase. After the weekend was over, he gave some points back to the field. He is still out in front of the pack with Lunkerman(2495) still holding on to second. During the Bolivar race, Jett66 used his good score to jump past Lunkerman for second, only to have Lunk take the position back with a SUPER good score for the Lebanon race. Jrt66(2420) holds down the third place position while Fetllmn(2365) is in fourth. Cbork23(2355) has worked his way back into the top five after this weeks events. A complete top 20 will be listed near the end of this update.

The MARS strs wil be back in action this weekend with races at Memphis Motorspots Park, West Plains Speedway and the Monett Speedway Sept. 2-4. There will only be 3 scoring races left on the MARS after this weekend. With the battle we have going on for the Cup, it is important hat all the players playing MARS on VT score well this coming weekend. As close as the points are all the way through the field, things can change from race to race. There’s only one trophy to pass out, but I know we all wan to beat the players anywhere near us in the standings. Good luck!
WHATS NEXT:
There are a total of 8races planned to be ran this week in the Challenge. Along with the MARS races mentioned above, the WDRL will also host 3 shows this weekend. They will be at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN on the 3rd, LaSAlle Speedway in LaSalle IL on the 4th, and at the Davenpot Speedway in Davenport, IA on the 5th. The MLRA will be having 1 show at the Salina Speedway in Salina, KS on the 3rd. The SMRS will also be in action on the 3rd as well as they take their show on the road and visit the Nevada Speedway in Nevada, MO.

Ron Mitchell’s Racing Photography and Collectibles is your one stop shop at the track for anything racing! That’s right, now Ron has the die cast cars in various sizes for those of you into this sort of thing. He picked up a new batch at the Topless, so if you haven’t checked them out in the last couple of weeks get down there this weekend before their all gone! Also this week you can pick up your Mudslinger Calendars, this guy has it all!!! Pictures of your favorite drivers can be found at reasonable just like before. He can also make you up a poster or a calendar with favorite drive as well. Yeah all I do is surf around the net looking for news about the hurricane. An Aquarium near Biloxi had its roof torn off. As far as the New Orleans Aquarium its still in one piece but the water is rising. I'm gonna call down there next week and check on what I can do.

Have you checked out the new one in Jenks Oklahoma?
