Week 20 Update
I’m finally getting an update for the 4M/VT Midwest Challenge out on time. Our official scorekeeper has been busy on getting the Missouri State Fair races taken care of the past couple of weeks and had more important things to do than work on points for the Challenge. I’m glad to hear the Fair races were a success and the folks up that way now know why they asked him to put this venture together. Don’t be surprised if they come knocking at your door next year Clint, if they haven’t already! I tried to keep everyone abreast of what was going on but didn’t want to give out to much information just in case I didn’t get it right.
This past weekend MARS put on two shows in the Show Me State of Missouri for the only races in the Challenge. Friday night the 26th, the fans saw Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas take the win in the Missouri Dirt Track Championship race at the Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, MO. Saturday night the27th, the MARS racers headed over to the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO. This race was won by MARS point leader Terry Phillips out of Springfield, MO. Tery had to come from deep in the field and overtook Bill Frye in the late stages of the race for the win.
Current Challenge point leader Jet66 took the win formteh Bolivar race scoring 190 pts. Dennis1964 took second place honors with 185 pts. Atie fro third among 75Phillipsfan, RikusAngel and Opp88 rounded out the top race scorers. These players each scored 170 pts. for this event.
Saturday nights action saw a hole new top five players taking high point honors showing the parity of the players in this years Challenge. Budweiser took home the winners share of points with 195. Nvssei finished second gathering up 180 markers along the way. Pictureman and Chrisdirtracer65802 tied for third with 170 pts. Fetllmn took the fifth highest score with a 170 point night. MARS Cup:
What a battle we have going on for the MARS Cup this year! Going into this weekends events, Cross2(2530)1 had a pretty substantial lead in the Chase. After the weekend was over, he gave some points back to the field. He is still out in front of the pack with Lunkerman(2495) still holding on to second. During the Bolivar race, Jett66 used his good score to jump past Lunkerman for second, only to have Lunk take the position back with a SUPER good score for the Lebanon race. Jrt66(2420) holds down the third place position while Fetllmn(2365) is in fourth. Cbork23(2355) has worked his way back into the top five after this weeks events. A complete top 20 will be listed near the end of this update.
The MARS strs wil be back in action this weekend with races at Memphis Motorspots Park, West Plains Speedway and the Monett Speedway Sept. 2-4. There will only be 3 scoring races left on the MARS after this weekend. With the battle we have going on for the Cup, it is important hat all the players playing MARS on VT score well this coming weekend. As close as the points are all the way through the field, things can change from race to race. There’s only one trophy to pass out, but I know we all wan to beat the players anywhere near us in the standings. Good luck!
WHATS NEXT:
There are a total of 8races planned to be ran this week in the Challenge. Along with the MARS races mentioned above, the WDRL will also host 3 shows this weekend.
