For five races starting next week @KySpeedway, @Fanatics will have its first primary car sponsorship -- this on @matt_tifft's No. 19 Toyota.

I've been far less than impressed by this guy.

At this level, anyone that drives for one of the mega teams I expect them to be up in the front a whole lot. They have the car the pit crew and all of the setups done for them.

Considering what he's been through I think he's done fine. I assume he'll be back in that car next year and I expect some improvements then.

Sam hornish jr jumped into a JGR car last year after being out for a long time and dominated Iowa in his first start.

Tift has 15 starts and only 4 top 10s, 0 top 5s. Better hope he brings some serious sponsorship $$$$ or he's gonna be driving in the trucks again next year. And he wasn't exactly impressive there either.

YES!!! PREECE!!!!
http://racedayct.com/2017/07/ryan-preece-lands-two-race-xfinity-series-deal-with-joe-gibbs-racing/ :eek2:

He got 10th...in a Johnny Davis car...at Darlington last year. Out of the entire 3-car team it was the only top ten they scored. He was running top 10 at New Hampshire before wrecking.

I'm telling ya...this kid CAN drive. And he will only race in a car he's competitive in. That's why he stepped down from Xfinity this year (the ride was offered to him again). Now he's back kicking ass in modifieds here in the Northeast. He is going to have the time of his life in that 20 car. I cannot believe he got this deal with a TOP-TIER TEAM!!! I'm so happy for the guy. He's paid his dues for a long time...he's 26...that's not young at all in this sport anymore.

I am SO bummed I work weekends. Had I known about this just a few days prior I could've been there. Dammit. I get to see him race this Friday at Stafford.

Because being an experienced Cup driver and substitute teaching is the same as being a rookie coming off brain surgery. The kid is young and has a great story, just needs some more experience. Not every young guy is Kyle Larson.

I very much doubt it he will be in the car next year based on performance alone.

Based on Kyle Benjamin's performance, he will be a shoo-in within the next year or so.

Christopher Bell, Benjamin, and Gilliland are on the come up... JGR has a great issue in the sublime talent to sift out.

Yep Toyota has thrown tons of money at the series. Over 7 and a half times more money than the closest manufacturer. The good part is that people like Rick Hendrick snatch some of the really good ones out of the bunch.

Top 4 of xfin qualifying cup drivers. Penske has 2 cars entered and both are cup drivers.

Need to find somewhere to go drink tonight, race ain't gonna be worth watching.

Someone will be along any second to tell you how much Penske's personal playground for Cup drivers that serves no sort of developmental purpose of any kind enhances the show.

Something along the lines of it makes the wins more special for the younger guys and the young guys learn so much from them or some sh1t like that.

If Newman does not return to the 31 car, Daniel Hemric is the guy to get that seat. He has consistent sponsorship and I think could be that halo driver for RCR, fast and very consistent, just needs to get to victory lane.

Hemeric usually beats the Dillion's when they race in the Xfinity driving the same equipment. He has way less experience too.

First, it enhances the show for some, me included. A good battle between four or five stars in a non-points setting is sure to be interesting. Other battles among series regulars will also be interesting. And it creates the potential for a young up-and-comer to beat them all, a much greater achievement than beating a field of nobodies. That doesn't happen every week, but when it does happen it is very special. Great races don't happen every week in any series... by definition they are rare.

Second, your post implies that "development" is the sole purpose of the Xfinity series, but that is not true. Nascar and the track operators and the broadcasters also view Xfinity as the main support event of the weekend, filling the schedule with something some people want to see. Development is not the sole criteria, despite that you might want it to be.

Third, Penske's Xfinity program *is* a development program. It was and is instrumental in developing Brad K and Blaney as drivers, as well as Paul Wolfe, Jeremy Bullins, Greg Erwin, and Brian Wilson as crew chiefs. And engineers, crew members, and over-the-wall pit crews too.

Fourth, Discount Tire is an important sponsor of long standing. Such relationships are to be cherished and nurtured IMO, not run off the reservation. Brad makes a persuasive case that, without Discount Tire pushing for it, he probably would not be a Team Penske driver.

Glad to see that you were listening...

Matter of personal preference here. The regulars battles don't even get much TV coverage when the Cup drivers are hogging the front of the field. And Byron seemed to be happy with his small achievement at Iowa.

It doesn't. And I don't necessarily want it to be that way. Busch was great when it was a haven for guys who didn't quite have the money or were on their way out or didn't quite make it in Cup, in addition to a group of young guys trying to work their way up to Cup. Don't misconstrue.

Blaney never even got to run half a season in Xfinity. He'd run in half as many Cup races as Xfinity races in the #22 prior to his rookie season, which certainly contributed to his development. Now? Not a whole lot in the pipeline. The Cup drivers take up the #22 and sometimes the #12 despite having been around for years now. Fair point on the development of the other personnel, but a Cup driver doesn't have to be in the car for that to happen.

Ryan Preece...3rd in Xfinity final practice. 3rd. Can't believe I'm looking at this timesheet. I am SO PUMPED for tomorrow's race!!!!

I appreciated the fact he went back to modified after his Xfinity venture not gaining much traction. Guys like him in a good car is fun to root for, I'd give Ross Chastain that 19 car. He's one hell of a driver with what he has.

Preece is going to be hard to beat today.

Ty Majeski in his second start smoking Reed, again.

I think Tifft after NH is going to get better each week, now he is finding his comfort level with the setups. I really liked how he looked. Its also about time we have seen Jones get something going for himself, good on him.

Going to be grade A fun come tomorrow, s/o to Brett Moffitt as well. He looks really good on such short notice, he continues to mature as a driver.

Wow qualifying was exciting, it went right down to the wire Ryan Preece edged out Kyle Banjamin at Iowa. Timer is screwed up Carl Long isn't 3rd.

man, I've noticed some of them really draw it out, I think she has the McGinnis record.:D Glad no jet flyover, they would have run out of fuel circling

Preece is a good kid hes gotta good sense of humor. That family's got seriouseris money. Itd be cool to see a modified guy make it to cup again

Preese looks like an old school Nascar driver, husky, no neck, tough looking. I hope it works and he gets a good ride. He is tearing it up in Xfinity so far.

Elliott Sadler continues to lead Xfinity standings after Iowa

Elliott Sadler left Iowa Speedway still holding the Xfinity Series points standings.

With a 54-point lead over JR Motorsports teammate William Byron, Sadler has led the points after all but two races this season. His current stretch dates back to the June 17 race at Michigan.

Completing the top five are Justin Allgaier (-143), Brennan Poole (-189) and Daniel Hemric (-219).
