NASCAR Death Bed

I stopped watching NASCAR a few years ago. If NASCAR were in charge of the NBA, all of the players would have to be the same height; and, LeBron James would have to wear heavier shoes. It's not just NASCAR. There is no true organized racing in existence today. The rules and regulations are adjusted to maintain an "equal and competitive" field. That's not racing. That's a scripted reality show.

that's some sane reasoning right there. ;)
No doubt that's the reasoning for the popularity increase that the NBA is experiencing right now. Different shoe weights and height differential is all the rage right now. And here NASCAR thinks it's corn hole boards and campfires. Maybe NASCAR just needs to go with increased left side weight distribution and raising the ride heights? Then we'd be on the right track.

I kid because I care.

The drivers need to be taller. I'm thinking elevator shoes

Well according to our friend 4tires17gals, drivers with longer legs like Kyle Busch and Brian Scott (lol) have an unfair advantage

If Nascar can survive things like the chase, car of the future, Brian France and his management plus all the other crazy stuff it aint goin anywhere for a longtime if ever hahaha. The worst case I see for Nascar is that all the people who make a living or money off it are going to make less money. It will still be good money but just less then it was a few years back. The kids in the 24 and 88 cars probably think a half mill for driving a stock car is pretty dam good.

I was wondering what happened to Skoal

I liked him. He was one of the few people on the boards that had a realistic view of the ratings and what they meant. In other words, he was a realist about what was happening within and to the fan base.

Being realistic beats the heck out of being a debbie downer or having your head in the clouds. It isnt for everyone though.

Some people can't stand the truth, it doesn't fit with their delusional ideas.

Hahaha. I used to wake up every morning with a delusional person beside me. Well now I don't really mean that but I know what you mean as some people are just more comfortable believing what suits them instead of how it is. Keeps things interesting.

NASCAR President Brent Dewar on fans, facts and the future

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Recent articles and commentary about NASCAR dying or being set-up for a sell-off to a major conglomerate have no merit, according to NASCAR president Brent Dewar, who is in daily talks with the chief executive officer Brian France.

“Of course not,” Dewar told Kickin’ the Tires, protective of the sport he fell in love with after attending a night race at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1988. “We’re celebrating our 70th year with NASCAR, and we’re probably as excited about our 71st year coming up as we’ve been at any time in our history, I think.

“I’m in the market like you are, and there’re lots of stories written all the time. I think this might have been the 10th version I’ve heard. I’m starting my fifth year. We’re working on growing the sport, Jerry. The France family have been here for 70 years.”
