NASCAR Death Bed

One thing is for sure, you need more practice predicting the future. ;) Might get a wee gee board.

IDK what is going on with SHR other than I think the 4 car is all set, Smithfield bought a ride for Aric in the 10 which was very nice of them. Unless something changes I think Clint is still light on sponsors and IDK how many full race sponsors has with Monster. I read somewhere that it was 18 last year and was going to be 9 this year but I think there was a clarifying statement today. Either way Haas CNC will be a regular primary sponsor. I will see how much I remember my HS French......Je dis non à un conseil ouija car le futur prendra soin de lui-même.

Brian France says that viewers are "sliding to other platforms." I thought that was funny as he probably didn't even know what he was saying.

I will fully admit that I have little experience streaming TV content, but if my experience the other night trying to stream an episode of a TV show I missed was in any way typical, I wish I had not even bothered. I just about put my fist through the monitor, and this was on a full sized regular computer with a fiber optic high speed internet connection...... I can't even imagine trying to watch it on a damn phone or tablet.

going to be interesting now that the internet has been turned over to the gate keepers.

Back in the 70's and 80's I had a C-Band satellite dish and for many years you didn't pay for any programming as there was no mechanism in place to charge people. As time went on some channels started scrambling content which was easily defeated and then new scrambling methods were brought in etc, etc. IDK when the whole C-Band industry went belly up but I would guess 15-20 years ago.

Many people like streaming because it doesn't cost them anything and it may surprise you to know that some of Nascar's biggest supporters steal streams and cast them from a tablet to a television but don't consider what they are doing as theft but it is. Just like C-Band and Ku-Band delivery systems tightened up and began charging users streaming services will do likewise so a person will either pay a cable/sat company or a streaming service for content. I would estimate that none of the sports or Nascar programming I consume is streamed but all of the entertainment programming is. It makes no difference to me how it is delivered as it is the same as it is like riding in a Yukon XL or a Suburban to me. You can't tell the difference and both vehicles will get you where you want to go.

I really wish NASCAR could come up with a Netflix or WWE Network type of idea to watch old races besides what’s on YouTube. It’d be Pick a year, the schedule will pop up for said year and you could choose what race you’d like to view. I’d so pay 9.99 a month for that subscription,Itd come in handy for days that I can’t find any racing on TV

@StandOnIt you need to improve your knowledge of the new deathbed lingo. There are no sponsors, just ride buyers. This has been declared by our CDO ("Chief Deathbed Officer") who also has recently assured us that the deathbedders never exaggerate or fabricate their news. SMH.

When a sponsor like Menards or Smithfield approach a team to do business with the provision that they dictate who the driver will be what do you call it? Do you really feel that the Wood Bros and SHR would hire Paul Menard and Aric Almirola respectively if they were given a choice in the matter?

Yes Lew I hear ya. Smithfield in that case bought the whole Stewart team or they are the "nicest" sponsor in the whole wide world. It was either that or meals on wheels for SHR. Glad SHR will be able to eat next year. I think Newman will trade them some cheese if they need it.

Professional motorsports in this century is a business first.

No amount of pining for a glorious past free from commercialism, entitlement, engineering expertise and wild wind tunnel testing is gonna change that. Happily, there are still pit lizards everywhere.

are you implying that Aric's father is head of Smithfields like Menards dad is?

IDK who is pining for the past as it is impossible to replicate.

Getting back on track about death bed news If Kurt Busch signs with SHR Monster will be on board for 9 races instead of the 18 last year. Between Kurt and Clint Gino's company will be on the hook for 50+ races.

Air Force Continuing Partnership with RPM

The Air Force begins its 18th year of sponsorship in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, partnering with Richard Petty Motorsports for a 10th consecutive season.

Air Force Recruiting Service, charged with the mission to inspire, engage and recruit future Airmen, sees the continued association as an opportunity to build awareness about the Air Force.

"The Air Force is excited to partner with Richard Petty Motorsports once again and this year we are 'enlisting' a new driver, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace, Jr.," said Timothy Hanson, Air Force Recruiting Service Strategic Marketing Division chief. "NASCAR and other motorsports align well with our target audience's interests and the Air Force's commitment to teamwork and technology."

That sounds more like good news than deathbed news but the negative spin could be that there was no money or term discussed so the deal is just a little bot of nothing. Just trying to keep the intent of the thread going.

They finally got a good driver. :sarcasm:

the 21 car is going to be in the top 5 a lot next year I bet. He out drives pa pa's grand kids most of the time

interesting. It seems declining cable subscriptions/decline of TV is showing up across the board these days. It isn't super accurate, they didn't include the Daytona 500 races in the tally for some reason, and college football is only CBS ratings

Looks like the should have called it a Ratings Decline Graph instead of Growth Graph. There's nothing positive about it. :idunno:

I don't need 50 or 70 cable channels when I only regularly watch a handful. Even Playstation Vue has gotten ridiculous with this. I ended up cutting out the Playstation Vue for the same reason.

Are you implying Daniel Hemric isn't a good driver with that sarcasm?
You misunderstood me. Daniel IS the Good Driver they finally got. The question is "will RCR give him what he needs even though he may make the grandsons look bad?"

I don't think Hemeric is thought of that way yet. He is full time in Xfinity. Now if he has a really great season, RCR will probably have to do something with him or other teams might offer him better rides IMO. He did pretty good his rookie year in Xfinity came in 4th. He beat part timer Ty, but barely beat Austin's part time stats. He's pretty sharp, I bet he does better his second year.

He needs a couple of wins, but I rate Hemric at a very high level.
