The only person I read that claimed JGR was holding Arris hostage was SOI. Even though they likely never were it is still ok for you guys to hate them.

I'm ok with Suarez saying that if he goes out and backs it up next season, if not then it's a bad look. More drivers speaking up about this kinda stuff is entertaining and the sport needs some real drama instead of forced narratives.
 
As for Suarez — probably a comfortable millionaire like a lot of the other Cup
drivers. So, while I hope he achieves “self-actualization” under Maslow’s higher needs; I won’t feel sorry for him and his Cup Dreams plight.

I just hope he never forgets what Holy Joe did for him and to him... :D

I'm curious where this line of reasoning comes from? Daniel Suarez is rather young, and I doubt he has socked away much of a retirement account in his very short career... after beginning with nothing. Anyway, my observation of Racers, particularly young ones, is that they tend to interpret Maslow's hierarchy differently from most psychologists. They're just not wired like civilians, as a general rule.

I enjoy NASCAR and the storylines of personal ups and downs, professional highs and lows, dramas, etc — it connects me to the teams, personalities, and racing that much more. But Suarez has resources from sponsors, JGR, etc that far exceed what most people his age or even families that pay to watch him race.

I will be one of his fans if he finally checks into his new unit at SHR, and his motivation to beat JGR on the track should be fun to watch.

That being said, Suarez is using his talent, but has also had a great opportunity as a young competitor to drive for a Championship level organization. He’s not living hand to mouth and he’s got a great future ahead of him.

His words about JGR disappointed me — prompting my post. His problems are dealing with a sport; If he wants to take his role more seriously, he’s got to realize that it’s not just about him and not getting the best equipment, crew, resources at JGR to win, it is about the rest of JGR as an organization supporting their personnel and families doing the best they can to keep it all afloat with satisfied sponsors and competitive teams. JGR would rather have Team Truex/Pearn race for them than against them. As for his team situation the past two years, that’s life in multi-car organizations — there are advantages and disadvantages.

Suarez appeared to be the most expendable, but while he fights for his future, he should be grateful about his past with JGR and the NASCAR Program that helped him get to where he is. He’s a young driver in a garage where there are s few Cup Champions who have “switched” teams sling the way — e.g. the 2018 Final Four have all been down this road. :D

Suarez is not a victim — he should stop sounding like one.

How come if a fella answers a question honestly, he is whining or throwing people under the bus? He was in the same boat as young Joey. Champion steps out of the car and everyone expects the kid pushed into the seat to mirror the old team. Never going to happen and especially at JGR where the two top drivers have no problem protecting their status while in the meantime neither is a champion, however, one did win a championship.

a JGR pit crew. Good demonstration of Pius Joe's type of love and family.
 
Agree, I have really tried to give Suarez the benefit of the doubt the last few years, but the negatives keep surfacing. It is one thing to speak your mind, but this is coming across as a spoiled kid not getting his way...AKA Danica's syndrome.

Very surprised by this. Two years in arguably the best equipment, and you say you never had a team to win? Geez.

I believe Suarez is making the argument that he did not have proper circumstances (equipment, personnel disruptions, etc) to win -- his motivation for making those statements about his opportunity at JGR in the #19 car is unknown -- whether embarrassment for not winning or he's trying to keep a positive ego about why someone with his level of talent was unable to win.

Suarez should've taken the high road and thanked Holy Joe and JGR for his opportunity in both Xfinity (as a Champion) and in a premiere championship-level Cup Car for two years -- IMHO. Stay classy and understand the bigger picture, then get on with your life and go win some races.

As for being in a similar situation than Joey, that is my point, not yours. The 2018 Final Four all got shuffled around on their way to eventual titles.

As for his opportunity in a Championship-level multi-car team -- Suarez shouldn't be complaining as much as going out to grab that victory. The HMS stable once had JJ, JG, and Junior all fighting for resources. JJ somehow prevailed against both JG and Junior for Championships -- but I believe their individual teams were all scrapping for the best of the best in cars, parts, talent, etc; and they all won races.

If Suarez couldn't win in JGR equipment and with JGR personnel, then like Chase -- he needs to look inside and reflect on why he has not been successful;
instead we get Festivus...
 
I don't think so at all. Suarez made his bed, drew the line and he had better perform in an SHR car. Tired of mamby pamby drivers. Thinking out of school, Suarez was pulled up with little if any experience, wasn't given enough time to perform and he thinks given the resources to do so. Two years in cup? who becomes an instant winner these days. The stats show he did much worse his second year than his first. Probably could argue the reasons for that, but at first glance that is unusual to do worse your second year than your first in the same? equipment.

But maybe it's true. It was certainly true for the 22 team when he was over there. I would hate to be the "4th wheel" on that team as it seems the other 3 get almost all the attention and probably better prep and equipment.
 
IMO Suarez sounded like he had a case of sour grapes and ingratitude. Still Nascar fans are difficult to please as the complaints of vanilla drivers is heard often but when someone speaks his mind it isn't good

Not really, he can express his feelings. I'm not extremely fond of it, but like Joey Logano maybe Daniel was not the greatest fit for JGR. Maybe SHR will be a better situation for him and Daniel is no slouch of a driver. He's a quick learner, but maybe JGR at the Cup level was not as attractive as it was going through the truck and Xfinity series.

I'm sure Daniel is greatful for Gibbs and company helping his upstart to stardom, but I think SHR with Harvick, Bowyer, and Almirola will be a good thing for him. All three are very open to helping one another. I think Kyle Busch was on Daniel's side though. I still remember when Kyle jumped in Daniel's Xfinity car when he could not pinpoint what was wrong with it. Kyle was instrumental with helping Daniel along the way, but it has to be something deeper than what we see in the headlines and text.

Yes, they are. If they have great cars then they could be the "Big Two" next season. LOL, can't wait for Rick to advise us on the playoff implications.

Just because he was in a JGR car does not mean he had the best equipment. I have heard drivers say, "scrap this junk, don't try to fix it."

Well it sounds like the money from Monster definitely isn't near enough to cover the whole season for Kurt. I wonder who else they have on the line for sponsorship? Kurt's past hasn't shown him to be a huge sponsor draw.

Suarez is about it concerning the big dogs to find a spot. I knew 99% that Kurt to Ganassi, and the same goes to Suarez. I think Suarez's announcement was tied to Kurt's and in the next day or so he will announce his plans. Sho Biz. Interesting Truex slid in under the radar when they were chewing up Rodney and spoilergate. I wonder if this was by luck or design. The press was sure focused on the SHR penalty at the time. I'm pretty sure Rev will appear and set me straight on his Toyota's and Joe love.
