2017-18 Fall/Winter Weather Thread

Friends of ours took an Alaskan cruise. FedEx showed up with a overnight package, two bigly yuge salmon filets with a note saying I owed him a jug bourbon. Told him the fish market put their card in the box,,LOL. I really don't care for salmon but my wife does..

From what I understand the best way to grill salmon is on a cedar plank. after cooking throw the fish away and season the plank to taste. o_O

Some decent fiber in those planks.

So does the plank...
Mako Shark and swordfish on the grill are my favorites!

I’m not going to cook a turkey and fixins for two people. I might just take a drive or work on my car.
I'm grilling a huge salmon fillet.
We're having our usual. Two Rock Cornish Game Hens smothered with spices and cooked standing on the grill using small tomato paste cans for support. Potato salad, fresh corn on the cob and fresh green lima beans.

Turkey, cornbread dressing, fried okra, fresh green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce and rolls. Pies are usually made by a customer of mine......

And ....... it's only going to be the 2 of us here...... but..... we still cook Thanksgiving and Christmas like when we had the kids here.

Damn. There’s gonna be leftovers. :D

On a downward trend today heading into Thanksgiving. They say we're heading down to 22 tonight. May be a good night for the hot tub!

Bought this new gazebo for summer. It's about 12 foot by 10. Gotta say I'm really loving it. Sometimes it's a bit too hot to sit outside in direct sunlight.

At 7:30 it had warmed up to 32°, it was 26° just two hours ago.

Christmas lights? You know I would but now I have think of the boys, and the threats against me if I step out of line. :D They went crazy when they saw Santa in the Macy's parade.

Had the pleasure of driving through North Carolina in the snow. It was fun.

Should be a national law requiring people to learn how to drive by going north in the winter to get their license.

Snow here, 4 -8 inches today, then more on the way Tuesday, possibly a bigger storm. Starting to finally feel like Winter in New England.

Latest is 3-6 inches today but like always the guessers leave themselves an out, ''depending on the storms track it could be less,,,or more''
I hope the roads stay in decent shape as my son has tickets to take the boys to see the hockey boys, the P-Bruins tonight.

Chit Andy, I watched the best ever demo derby in Jacksonville years ago, a mere dusting maybe a 1/2-1 inch and they were wrecking in the parking lot! The highway in front of the hotel was like a Tega ''big one''.

Not one single flake of snow at my house.
Got up this morning to see 2 fat does munching acorns about 5 feet from my back steps. One was even inside my chain link fence -- I've never seen
sign that one has been inside before.
They finally left. Walked into the kitchen, looked out the front window --- a small-ish 4 point buck was wandering around my front yard. He looked lost. LOL

Only 33* this morning, but the bright sunshine will warm things up.
Sent brother a text about the deer. He laughed and said he got 2 more yesterday. I think that's 4 so far this year.

Atlanta received more snow the past couple of days than us here in Wichita did both last year and the year before. I don't think that's how it's suppose to be.

Looks like we ended up with just under 4 inches of the white stuff according to the local guesser.

Was in Atlanta for the race in, I think the year was 1991 or '92. The afternoon prior to the dramatic weather change we went to downtown Atlanta and walked around with temps in the 80's. That night, temps dropped below freezing and the wind blew so hard it took down hospitality tents, blew over porta-potties and left ice and snow covering the roads. It was interesting to watch Alabamians attempting to drive on the ice but more interesting were the chaps doing their, "here, hold my beer and watch this," moments. Cars were overheating because of low or no anti-freeze. We had a Country Coach motorhome, ran the generator and had a portable heater and still could not get the interior temperature above 65 with the wind blowing so hard. Even the corgis didn't want to go outside and when they did it was a hurry up pit stop. The race was cancelled and a later date set. We never did get to see the race as we packed up and headed south, to Florida, where it was warm!!

Now we live in Florida and the temps today are fifty degrees. A friend once told me that after living in New Jersey for sixty years and North Carolina seventeen years, after spending one year living full time in Florida, fifty would be cold. I didn't believe him, until this morning, when I wore gloves and a heavy jacket to walk the corgi. :)

Was over at Princeton University yesterday. They got about 4 inches of snow between 10am & 4pm. Had to drive the first 150 or so miles home through slick conditions. Just bad enough to cause it to be a stressful ride. Saw a bunch of wrecks and slowed traffic. My route home from there takes me just above Philly then north by Pocono Raceway and finally west across to the better side of the Commonwealth. It was kind of weird that the worst part of that trip was the NJ and Philly areas.

Going to hit 80 today..................................................................................................................................................................................and windy

Got about 5 inches of snow overnight. Enough to plow the driveway. They are calling for an additional 4 inches tonight.
