Fall/Winter Weather Thread

We've had pretty much a steady, light rain for most of the day. It's right at 32* on the porch --- but not much ice anywhere. About the only ice I see is some of the droplets on the tree limbs aren't dripping. Nothing is glazed over --- all pretty much still liquid.

Same here I see icicles on cars and stuff but the roads are just wet.I bet later tonight it gets worse.

At least AMS is used for something in winter

Staging for the storm.

Gotta love our local TV channels. WSLS MIGHT interrupt programming on a sub channel because they won't interrupt the Olympics on NBC which is on for all of five hours a day. And you can bet money WDBJ won't interrupt any programming at all for updates.

Southern National Motorsports Park just shared this photo on Facebook. It has dumped a lot more snow in the area in the hour since that photo was uploaded, but I'm guessing everyone made a run for it so they wouldn't end up spending the night in some office at the track.

Also, ticket prices for UNC/Duke tonight are plummeting on StubHub, so you know it's serious.

Snowmageddon has begun at my house.

weather Channel is all over it.

I have DIRECTV. We don't get Weather Channel. Instead, we get some cheap knockoff called "WeatherNation" that spends 10 minutes talking about how perfect the weather is in Los Angeles and Miami instead of informing us about the storm.

It's going through a transformation, maybe it will improve soon.

I just read that DirecTV wanted a change from all of the non weather related gloop, along with Al Roker and friends that the weather channel has become. They are helping to change WeatherNation into what the Weather Channel once was. And also the weather channel is pricing Itself out of business.

TWC is NOT a necessary public service like they make themselves out to be.

Robin Reed needs to retire. Two days ago, the fool was calling for four inches of snow. Now, he's sticking with up to a foot while his co-workers are on Twitter saying we could get 18". Then the fool goes on the air and says that they're upping their snow totals to maybe 13-14" because the snow started sticking from the start which they weren't expecting. Um, it was 18° what the **** were you expecting?

12 inches, still piling and the heaviest still to come. TV weather guessers only called for 10 inches as of eight hours ago.

Not as tropical here as with some of you guys, but it's 50 degrees out and the sun is shining, so I'll take it.

Seems to me there's a general culture in government right now where they don't want to shut down roads when they should because they'd rather error on the side of danger and save money and where they don't want to close schools when they should because they don't want to error on the side of caution and piss off "parents" who think schools are free day care centers.
