NASCAR Death Bed

Surprised there isn't a peep about the 178 million (non tax payer money) these insane people are spending while Nascar is laying on it's deathbed. #shovelingdirt

Businesses everyday spend millions and more on improvements. They do it because they expect a return on their investment. Updating a track in any location is about that. Today's fans don't want to spend hours at a location that caters to the crowd that their grandfather's fanbase expected. To break it down Barney style for you, Ford makes improvements on their plants because they can't build today's vehicles in the same environment that they built the model A.

Why you keep yapping about taxpayer money is senseless. If the taxpayers of whatever location wanted to spend money on a track they would do so.

All sports are suffering drop offs in attendance and TV viewership, ratings are not bad because people press a Nascar app a couple of times a race. Nascar's tracks are righteous because they don't accept tax abatement's and the drivers are as pure as the driven snow because they don't get into trouble at the same rate football players do. Red herrings abound and we know why.

What the tweet actually means.

Credit One signed with CGR for less races and less money than Target and still has unsold inventory available.

Do some of y'all tune in to watch the race? Or just to look at the stands?! o_O

I can't say I have ever tuned into a race to see anything other than the race but if something is shown like a car hitting a jet dryer, a car riding around with a jack underneath it or stands being half full I will normally see it and have a comment or 2 about it.

You think tracks sell their unsold tickets to scalpers? There's this scalper who travels to most tracks and has lots of premium tickets. At Daytona I see some scalpers with over 100 tickets.

I think some of them are selling company blocks. I've bought from them, got good seats for a discount on race day.

I saw this guy selling tickets that are $1500 each for $700 for this weekend. He has 12 of them.

It is funny to hear the term "scalper" used when they are routinely selling tix for less than face value.

ANYONE that pays 1500 dollars a ticket..... or even the 700 dollar price has to be diehard or stupider than hell....... there is no way I would pay that..... !!!!!!!

If everyone felt the same as me..... the stands would be totally empty........ and I don't care if they are suite tickets in a box with all the amenities........

Getting back on track about death bed news If Kurt Busch signs with SHR Monster will be on board for 9 races instead of the 18 last year. Between Kurt and Clint Gino's company will be on the hook for 50+ races.

The wife and I go to most short track races in this area, 10 bucks a head. Good racing and can see the whole track

Lets see, Dale Jr's last race, Matt K's final race, Danica's final race, and where we crown a champion. Gosh, with those concepts you'd think it would have been sold out by now.

One would have thought that all 46,000 seats for a prestigious event like Nascar's finale would have sold out the moment tickets went on sale but evidently that is not the case.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the Nascar way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say....................:D

The idea that other major sports sellout their championship game, i.e., game 7 in baseball, the Superbowl, is an elusive concept. Wait, next we'll see somebody type, "You can't compare stick and ball sports to NASCAR". ;)

Since this is the deathbed thread I think discussing matters like Nascar's embarrassment of not being able to sell all 46K seats within 48 hours of the finale is right on target. It would be very interesting to have someone state a cogent defense as to why Nascar's finale was not sold out months ago but I am not sure there is one.

How many seats could a seat counter count if a seat counter could count seats? A seat counter would count many sets of seats if a seat counter could count seats.

Okay, so it's a work in progress. :D

You could put the seat counter theme to music as like "I'm a Girl Watcher."

I'm a seat counter
I'm a seat counter
And I count every race.

Mine is a work in progress also.

I'll take the under.

If the finale does 6.1 million viewers the Adam Stern news will be that the last 10
Tune in?!!!
:XXROFL:
A guy with 3 wins, leading 750 laps has a shot at beating a guy with 7 wins and over 2000 laps led.
Not sure what viewers are hoping to see.

I know that Truex is in Lotto Nascar and I am pretty sure that Kyle is too but IDK who the other drivers are and that is fine as I won't see the race anyway. I hope the viewers like what they see but I can't abide by what I see as a complete and unsporting farce.

Haha, I've watched 2 races this year, Nascar isn't worth wasting my time on a Sunday anymore. I'll watch the highlights, read about it, but as for watching an entire race ...meh. the last 10 laps is all you need to see anyway.

You had better watch out saying you only watched 2 races this year....... that post will bring the biggest part of the forum down on you in a heartbeat........ :)

As a footnote....... I haven't watched a complete race on T.V. in several years........

Several folks aren't just cheerleaders who will swallow anything that Nascar tries to shove down the unsuspecting public that they try to pass off as ''racing''.......
There are very few of those folks here.
