On Going - Songs You Like

If you have never listened to "Johnny and the Hurricanes" before, give it a listen. I have their album of greatest hits and enjoy it thoroughly. It is a different kind of music from the fifties.

Found out recently that this guy is coming to the Arizona State Fair in October.
Looking forward to seeing this song in concert from his last album. I'm sure you country fans are familiar with it.

Great song, good lyrics and really nice flow

The Life

by Gary Clark, Jr.

  • Gary Clark Jr. - The Life
  • I can’t go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't, go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • Can’t go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • Well I wake up around 10 in the morning
  • Feeling crazy, feeling horny,
  • From the night before, ‘cause I was up ‘til 4 in the morning.
  • Just song so I take the long trip
  • And then I take out my song scripts
  • When I sit down to write, I always look to God to help me see the light
  • But I know, that I ain't even living right
  • And I know, that I can't live by the night
  • But it’s so hard for me just to put it down
  • So hard for to pass up the crown
  • But it’s been passed down, I’m sitting on the thrown
  • Sometimes I feel that in this world, I’ve just been thrown in
  • Not been shown it, and I don’t know, when to slow me down
  • But I can’t, go on like this,
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't, go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • I can’t go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't, go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • But, this is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • This is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • This is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • They tell me it’s the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • Once again, I hit the hot spot with my SoCal friends
  • Then I, I hit the ATM, and then I realize that I ain’t got no pins
  • And then I call up my kin, hey my money’s goin’
  • I’m standing at the bar, but the drinks quit flowin’
  • Strapped for cash, standing on the block, drunk as hell trying to avoid the damn cops
  • And this is how it is sometimes when you fall off track
  • Like when your record's scratched and you try to run it back
  • But sometimes the scratch's got too deep an impact
  • It makes it so hard for you not to look back
  • Regretting things that you did in the past
  • Wake up in the morning tell myself it won’t last
  • But I, tend to get another glass, and I
  • Start to actin' like an ass, but I
  • I can’t go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't, go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • Can’t go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' by
  • Can't go on like this
  • Knowing that I’m just gettin' high
  • This is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • This is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • This is the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • They tell me it’s the life, life, the life, life, the life
  • This is the life, I’ve got the life
  • The life, take advantage of the life
  • Take advantage of the life
  • Hey, this is the life
  • This is the life, life, life, life……life

The Life

See - this is why I love this thread. I have never heard of this song before nor it's artist. I can't even tell you what music genre to put this in.
So I gave it a listen.
Now I'm downloading it.

Thanks for sharing.

No problem. That's why I like it too. Rhapsody considers Gary Clark, Jr to be "Modern Blues". I'm not sure I would agree with that exactly, but he does have some blues influences. I first heard of him on Jay Leno a week or so ago. They said he had been called "the next Jimi Hendrix". That is a wild mischaracterization of the guy. I didn't like the song he did on Jay Leno, but I looked him up on Rhapsody and I downloaded his latest album. I really find his soloing to be the weekest part of his game. But, I do like a lot of what I've heard from him.

Not my favorite music style, but a great song. Great lyrics and some really nice guitar work, particularly for this genre. I really hate guys who verbally abuse women. I love her response to that in this song.

I'm eventually going to Nashville to see this gal. She was the last one to record an album by the late, great Owen Bradley.
Mandy was also cast to play Patsy Cline in a musical show at The Ryman.

Listen to Bad Company do "Bad Company" . Paul Rodgers was/is some of Classic Rocks best vocal chords.

Just picked up Easton Corbin's new album recently. This song quickly became my favorite.
I hope he and his record company decide to release it as a single.
I think it's a hit. But judge for yourself.

There isn't an official video for this song, so this is the best I could find. Great song though.

If Tomorrow Never Comes

by Demon Hunter

Hi all. How about some of the Blues. Turn it up and stand on it!

Kinda all boils down to this

And if neither of those don't work, do what I do

This one takes me back to days of jumping in the car, popping in some Seger and driving endlessly for hours with no destination. Good times.

Thanks for posting this one. I absolutely love Bob Segar. I don't remember that song at all though for some reason. It's cool though. Thanks again!

Not a great video, but a great song. One of my favorite songs to play on the accoustic guitar. You might be amazed at how good it sounds with just an accoustic guitar. No piano or anything else. My new laptop has a built in webcam so I plan on posting a video of me playing and singing it soon. I'll post it in here as well as on youtube.

Bob Segar --- Against The Wind

"Against The Wind"

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playlng low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove

And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin'
Against the wind

And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin'
Searchin' for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind

Well those drifters days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
I'm older now but still running
Against the wind
Well I'm older now and still running
Against the wind

hmmm girl country kinda? the first part, this gal sings pretty much by herself and has a heck of a voice . Adelle in the second part with all the band does a good job. Scuse my ignorance, I don't listen to much pop country. But this Gal can actually sing.

here's one with old technology..grooooves. you should be able to tell the better sound quality that a decent record setup had back in the day over digital, even listening over cheesy computer speakers.

Here is another one that isn't too scratched up
