SILLY SEASON 2019

Yeah, picking Suarez had to be all about sponsor $$. He was very mediocre in the 19 car.

Some are saying he'll be like Logano and pick up his performance substantially after leaving JGR, but I have my doubts.

Logano basically skipped the Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series and was only 19 when he started with JGR.

Suarez had more seasoning when he joined JGR.

We'll see.

Stuart/Haas will welcome the ARRIS sponsorship $ and won't have to plaster HAAS on as many cars in 2019.

Daniel wasn't the best, he had plenty of flashes though where it seems like he got it. Then there were races where he fell off the Earth. Same with Logano at his time with JGR, but it took a change to really see what he was capable of. Daniel is going to flourish with Haas because Daniel has money, but the potential is there. With all of the experience at Haas, he's going to do a great job and were going to see more growth from him.

If it was all about a sponsor the preacher should have kept him.

Sauter has won a champiosnship and 13 races for GMS. It's kinda unfair to dump him like that.
That being said, nothing better could've happened for Moffitt. He's basically in the pipeline for a decent Cup ride now.

Maybe so. It will be interesting to see what he does without Zippy and the team behind him.

I hope Sauter goes back to Thorsport replacing Rhodes (rumored to possibly be gone).

I feel like Chastain could be in the JDM #0 car if anything else.

Weird career arc for Moffitt. I'd like to have seen him find a decent Xfinity ride instead...not really sure what another Truck season proves for him at his age but it seems to be all that was available. With Sauter being forced out as well I'm not sure it's much of a 'win' overall. I'm glad Brett at least found something I suppose though.

A single truck well prepared team survives for another year taking Hill with a sponsor. I doubt Hill is as salty as Moffitt is but he's pretty good and I bet he gets some top 5's and maybe a win. GMS is the puzzler. I think they are gambling that Moffitt will get them the title and he probably signed up for less money.

Yeah I wouldn't miss Rhodes, he's had plenty of time to prove himself,

I like him, he's just a bit too inconsistent at times. He's only 21 as well, I wonder if he will try to get back into the Xfinity series? He was only 18 when he was with JRM and he has improved a ton as a driver. Not to mention he won last season, at times he was the best truck at ThorSport. He did well, but honestly I expected a bit more from him.

I think it was about sponsor $$ for Stewart Haas, not Gibbs (the Preacher).

Gibbs probably wanted better performance.

With Truex, Gibbs gets proven performance plus adequate sponsorship $$.

Stewart Haas has had to partially fund multiple cars with Haas Automation splashed on the hood.

Now, they at least have one more car fully funded.

I don't think Boyer is fully funded, still, though.

Haas is doing what he always does. He is partially sponsoring the 41 along with Arris. It isn't about the money, like Gene said he hired Kurt to win..didn't happen. I don't think he has changed his philosophy, he hired Suarez to win and Haas could have had many choices of drivers to fill the seat. Tony says that is Gene's car..and it is.

Truex needs to do something.

In terms of what? Kaulig took a big step forward last season, he was a major improvement over Koch. We already had this conversation in terms of R. Truex. Where ever he goes, he's going to be a very consistent driver on any configuration. A win would be nice, but he was about as good as that 11 car could be IMHO. Its not a winning car.

If Truex goes to lets say NEMCO in the 8 truck. He will have ZERO excuses, he has to win with it.

Hide and watch with Haley in the car this year.

Oh I will, trust me.

Its going to be the same result. The next move will be getting a better CC. Chris Rice is about as middle of the road as they come.
one top five in 72 Xfinity races and Haley has tied Truex's performance. It won't take much.

Hayley had a better car. The 23 is a JRM car my dude.
Truex drove a Hattori truck for two years...didn't win a race. Next year Moffitt wins the title. :idunno: so I say Truex needs to do something. BTW the 23 was a GMS truck. Youngster put up 3 wins in the same time period.

2016 the 81 at the time was a upper mid-field truck. Scott Zippadeli came to HRE that next season, which is why there was such a huge transformation. Also, that was the teams first season. Moffitt did a phenomenal job, but at the same time year two getting personnel in the right place makes a difference. Moffitt got the spoils with a great CC and great development.

Truex first full-season was 2017 after a partial schedule the year before. Hattori improved no doubt, but I think Truex would have won as well last season. Also, Kaulig is building as well brick-by-brick moving next to RCR.

I was talking about the GMS 23 car as well. That car is miles better than the 11. The GMS and HRE discussion, I'm not to sure of tbh. Give the man a second season, I think with some consistency he will win races. He's not going to blow doors down, but he's still a driver with a lot to give. He's got the talent, but like anyone continuity is needed. He's got money, I guess. So, if he gets a decent seat like the 8 truck. He's going to need to win to keep his career alive.

Truex with Zippy as crew chief put the 16 truck on the pole twice and had many qualifying positions in the top five. The truck was fast but Truex wasn't. Truex hasn't won a race in 8 freaking years and that was a K&N. Sorry but I don't believe your better equipment alibi.

We'll see, I'm usually wrong. I think the man given some continuity will be fine. His career arc hasn't exactly been that great. I still remember his time at BK and I think that trashed what reputation he had. If given winning equipment we will see what he's capable of. Like I said, if he's given that 8 truck. He has to win, simple as that.

I'm not trying to be right. Truex hasn't done anything with his opportunities IMO. Truex following on his brother's coat tails has had many doors opened to him and he hasn't taken advantage of the fact. He had a ready built northeastern fan base and all he had to do was improve. Not everybody gets a chance, and just because his name is Truex doesn't mean he will be a front runner. Watching Haley on the other hand I have seen him constantly improve and continue to get good opportunities as he has come up thru the lower ranks. Won the K&N east title, won 2 out of three race attempts in ARCA, won 3 truck races last year. :idunno:

I thought GMS built their own stuff in the trucks anyway, and they supply Friesen's truck team who is an affiliate of them. Xfinity could be different I didn't know they were an affiliate of JR's team in the Xfinity series.

Interesting that Blickensderfer left RPM. Wonder who win CC the 43? I get the feeling that team may not make it the whole season.

Front row is a two car team that added a third car this year. McDowell, Tifft, and David Ragan. Petty has been picking up bits and pieces of sponsorship, most of it is posted in this thread. I don't think so myself. In fact I think bubba will get some decent finishes this year.

Could be a 3 car juggernaut in the making or a group of has beens or never was gettin them some that golden franchise finishing place money. I won’t speculate any further until we see them all on track as it wouldn’t be appropriate.....:XXROFL:

All Three chiefs as it is have worked for Roush

New year, new crew chief lineup for Front Row Motorsports

Oops he might be bring the Roush 60 luck with him. Kelley was tasked with the Roush’s rookie experiment—Team 60-- last year with drivers Chase Briscoe, Ty Majeski and Austin Cindric.

Kelly, Tifft's new chief is on loan from Roush. He was Stenhouse's chief when he won back to back Xfinity titles.
