Storage building

And just got email...virtual card deleted from Google Wallet because I removed lock screen from phone. Jebus Christ folks. I give up. Phone will die Monday. I'll start over when get card in hands.

Remembered Spectrum says I get one year free unlimited mobile phone service with my One Gig internet plan. (I'm suspicious) Figured I'm due for new 5G phone so why not. Click on deals. Motorola Moto G Play 2024 5G. Same phone I have except 5G and 128mg storage. Give me 105 dollar credit for my old phone! Otay Buckwheat now FINALLY something is going right...

Uhhhh? Wait? Submit SS # and date-of-birth for identification purposes (couldn't possibly be a credit check?), clicky the widdle blue button and...nothing happens. Oh...the button turned silver so it knows I'm here. Nothing. Tried 3 times. NADA! Ok...lets try chat. Completely automated, ain't nobody on other end. At some point gave me a phone # to call. I call. Automated voice verifies I'm the guy that's calling, on my phone, about the account connected to this particular number...confused? Always throw me off a bit. Why else would I be calling them? Wrong number I suppose?

Get transferred to a sales guy that has me on speaker and is 8 foot from phone. And a low-talker. Richard was his nameo. I'd call him Dick but that would be offensive. I blurt out MY DEBIT CARD IS DEAD! So...I need a new phone. <makes zero sense now that I see it in writing> Explain, was trying to purchase a phone & plan since it's "free"? Got to the screen that asks my life history, clicky the button...no smoke...no nothing. I tried chat, it's worthless. So now I'm talking to you.

Apparently I was being passive aggressive AGAIN as he got offended. Said he would transfer me as I was being too aggressive. I said F it and hung up. Went down the Boulevard to Dollar General. Did find can get phone refill card there. Was thinking about buying Tracfone and tossing the Verizon. Verizon been struggling all year for me. They had no Tracfones but did have something from Verizon. Nope. BTDT. Also tried Boost mobile and it also went off the rails. Think need a card to pay? IDK. It's all a blur.

I HATE writing checks. Only option at this point. Had to drive to Raleigh/Capital Blvd to find a BoA branch open. Too full to move. Should ahve withdrawn 250 bucks while there. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.

Just for chits & giggles tried Spectrum again. At least this time kicked an error code. Gave me a number to call but I'm so ill no point in making someone else day worse.

Bought pair of glasses from Zenni Optical with Virtual Card. 115 bucks. No problemo.

Tried half-dozen times to add money to phone account. Nope. Really don't understand. The only catch is the virtual card has a floating CCV. You have to open it and get the new CCV every time you use it if not using tap function. If you are entering the number like any other card, new CCV every time. Pain in the buttocks.

Going to try to pay YouTube Premium.

It worked. Didn't have to do chit. Clicked change payment and card was available. Clicked on and bingo...paid. Didn't have to enter CCV.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused?

First of the month dig deeper into Spectrum Mobile service. Really need a new phone. Paying 38 bucks month for one that's a constant aggravation. Possibly just pay for the phone to simplify everything. Be around 200 bucks. They offer a payment plan. Hate that stuff. Like 8 bucks month for life. Reminds me of Snap-On Tools. Shudder.

To put a bow on this crap...waited until noon for mail. Went to bank and cried like widdle girl so they gave me $100 to go away. Well that MIGHt be overdramatized but anyhoooo. Shot past home base to Dollar General for Verizon Refill Card! We gonna fix the phone! On 35 buck month plan usually debits 38ish bucks. Seems like when I'd add a refill card it wouldn't add exactly what you entered? Maybe? I don't remember. Been few years since last time. So...$50 card so know it's enough. Go out in parking lot. Used to be a way to directly enter the card number. Nope. Have to call the automated response team. After it asks for your phone number, entered, it asks if you are calling about account for (reads back) phone number? YES? OK. If YES, press 1. Press 1...at some point think I passed out...blood pressure was kicking the pop-off valve.

Really don't remember all the hoops but at some point said, enter the 89 digit code from back of card. Ok...maybe it's 15 digits...five groups of 3 digits. Get 11 digits in and accidently hit 7 when meant 9...smoke, crackling sounds, FIRE/FIRE/FIRE! "You have entered an incorrect number...sorry you are having difficulty...goodbye!" Farking hung up on me. WTF. Didn't offer another try. NADA! OK...almost threw the phone over the Exxon next door. Breathe dummy. B R E A T H E!

One more try. Now with 2 bars signal, no service. Walk about 20 feet over and starts to work. Get call rolling and as entering code, get message over top that my download speed was poor and I might get disconnected. Jebus Christmas folks. Hang up. Go home which is right at .9 mile away. Fire up the PC. Attempt to enter card code. Says this card be no good boi. WTF? Try again. SAME!

Drive back to Dollar General. Nope. It's on Verizon's end. They might eventually give you credit. Probably need to call and get it straightened out. On way past, check mailbox. You guess it...Debit card is here! OH JOY! Call Verizon to try to use the 50 dollar card anyway...can't get thru. Their system is definitely farked. Attempt to connect thru chat. It apparently doesn't speak hillbilly. Likely just typed to many werds. Next time type, payment. OK? It says, how? I type, refill card? Says type code. Otay buckwheat...I know how this goes. Entered. ERROR!

Now I'm pretty pizzed off. Again! Tell them what to do with their service and like magic appears a real person pops into chat. I give them two choice words. Done. Will buy an unlocked phone and start over with another provider. Maybe try the Spectrum deal. Suspect reason Spectrum attempt didn't work is, had zero credit in 20 plus years. I'd bet my rating is sub 400. Why they get your SS & birf date so can run credit check. Then act like there's been an error so don't have to tell you, YOU A DIRTBAG, BOI!

So...activated Debit Card. Think have everything fixed. Just gonna leave it all be and let them tell me. If something tries to bounce can fix in less than a minute. As for the Virtual/Digital Card deralio...must retain screen lock or it gets deleted from Wallet. Plus, my phone doesn't do the tippy/tappy thing. Bet new one will. All this drama because Wally decided I HAD to have a new windshield. What an arsehole! <wink>

One thing I just noticed after reviewing bank account, I already HAD a virtual card. It was paying half-dozen small amounts. 2 to 15 dollar stuff. When OG debit card was locked, that locked everystuff. Now we all good. I think.

Well fark. Vertigo bout to kick my donkey again. Had 2.7 weeks of it same time in 2022 0r 2023. Not sure what that's all about. Ain't fun. At all. Bleh. Not sick yet but it being coming. Bout fell over 3 times in last 18 hours. Crap.

Still walking that fine line. Move head around too much start to feel my head sweat and stomach turn just a little.

Was out wasting time assembling/mocking up...that's an M on the front of that...rafters. Used some 3/8 plywood for gussets (not nearly stiff enough) to see how close they match. Probably close enough but...some have a huge gap at joints. Need to completely disassemble all and kinda start over. Measure once cut three times, amirght?

This style rafter/truss, to fit 10 foot span & set directly on wall, each board supposed to measure 46 inches based on using the clock/circle method. 22.5 degree cuts. My problem...the ones I bought, assembled with mending plates like all modern stuff, has 20 degree cut at peak. So flatter angle. Throughs everystuff off. Upper boards were I think 54"? I cut them just beside the mending plates then trimmed to 47 ish inches @ 22.5 degrees. Easier to shorten than lengthen.

Draw a clock...no damit...not a digital clock. A round circle. 12 & 6 represent 5 foot (center) measurement. 3 & 9 = 12...WTF was I talking about?

Oh...from 9 to 12 is 90 degrees. 12 to 3 is again, 90 degrees. With equal length boards and 22,5 angles, bingo. 45 degree intersection at 10:30 and 1:30. Class...please pay attention. This will be on the test. If you change any of the dangles, it don't fit in that circle. 22.5 + 22.5 = HALLOWEEN? So...Since mine started at 20...what angle do I use? Add 2.5 or subtract 2.5 from where? Chicken or the egg?

I'M Soooooo CONFUSED!

I forgot. I want to have slight overhang. Enough to easily mount gutters. That's why I used 47ish inches. Gets right at 1.5" overhang. Will be a 2x4 running across walls tying the rafters in. Also be surface for loft. So I have 3 inches to play with.

Careful fellows...

I'll eventually either figure it out or just cut everything to 46 inches and see why she lands. Maybe go back thru all the material and do a very fine trim to confirm all the angles? Need to change blade on miter saw. Problem is, bought it used. Guy either over-torqued the fastener or forgot it's LH thread. Stripped the hex key hole. Maybe cut a slot thru to knock it lose with? Have a new finer tooth blade.

Performed an unscheduled disassembly of the three I'd hacked together. Trimed maybe 4 of the 11 upper sections to get them close to 47 inches as I could. Boards 47" not overall width? Length? Proximity? IDK...none were more than 1/8" off so THAT wasn't my problem. More searching.

Is that Jimmy Hoffa? Nope...

After perusing the 24 lower legs (had two extra), found 2 that were fubar and maybe 6-8 that I trimmed 16th to 1/8 off one end. The fubar were couple I'd changed one end to 25 degrees. Was trying to get that 45 * deal to work out correctly. The lower leg wasn't sitting flat. Guess because the peak angle is off 2.5 degrees that section doesn't fit in the circle. Throws everything off just a **** hair. I may well end up trimming all to 25ish at one end when doing final assembly?

Main problem with this thing is...I keep forgetting exactly what I did last time I messed with it. When you take 10 days to a month break, need to write stuff down. But nope. So now I'll wait till payday and get the wood/glue/screws to make this happen. Appears we aren't having any winter for a while. Might end up getting this thrown together before end of the year.

But I doubt it.

USPS has my new Zenni glasses here in Raleigh. Now let's see how many days it takes to get the 15ish miles to Wendell. I'm waiting with baited breath...anchovies yah know.

Got em. Pretty major distortion when turning head & at peripheral area. But had them on maybe minute & half. Very clear lens though. The cheapo Amazon progressives aren't nearly as clear. But 30 bucks. So. Now spend week adjusting the nose pads to suit.

But 30 bucks. So. Now spend week adjusting the nose pads to suit. My knee-jerk thought? End up spending 400ish at MyEyeDoc so get something really good. The main thing noticed about the previous pair got there was zero distortion. Without doubt best prescription ever had. But that was in 2016. Been in there poking around since.

One less sheet of OSB on the pile. Started trying to cut gussets but stuff is so old it's flaky and dried out. Me no likey. Plywood it will be. Also think will make them larger than I had originally thought. 18x8 probably. Take at least 2 sheets 1/2" plywood. Need 44ish gussets. Think will go ahead and add the full 12 foot to shed. Have the floor materials and plenty of roofing OSB and roofing material.

Friday, Friday, Friday! Quite possible will use some of the old OSB as temporary siding. It's too old to use for structure, IMO.

Put some nails in today. Might end up undoing some of it cause my OCD is screaming at me. Know what I did wrong. Figuring out how to undo it is hard part.

Nailgun sure makes stuff easier.

Not exactly sure how it happened but jig moved. Ended up with huge gap on one side. I was in a really bad mood and brain just wasn't interested in figuring it out. So more than half look like this. Not good. I mean, with the gussets on both sides it won't fall down. I just don't want to run into trouble getting the sheeting to fit without crazy gaps. I could just use flashing over the "knees" I suppose. Think one pictured is also one with miscut boards. Like I said, was mentally defective.

After assembling 5 or 6 with more gap than I liked, finally started measuring again as knew something had to have moved. Found upper peak section was off 1/4" (completely my mistake) and OSB was using as work surface was a creeping. Not like me and the ex, relax folks. It's tongue & groove (behave guys) and the hammering (before realized I had the appropriate nails for nail gun/what an idiot) had made the surface come partly apart (three sheets of 3/4 OSB laying on rails of utility trailer which =12 foot). Has a 12 foot 2x4 screwed to it but only one screw on each end about foot from end. It's also offset at 5 foot mark of 8 foot sheet. Took big dead blow hammer and beat it into submission. Then angled couple screw thru (probably doing nothing) so didn't happen again. Had enough already glued & nailed together just couldn't make myself stop. Now figured out how could have fixed it. So...tomorrow I'll see if can retrieve my error.

The "miscut boards" were two which I'd cut one end to 25 degrees instead of 22.5. Was way to lazy and mad to pull another 12 footer off trailer and mess with cutting two precisely 47" with 22.5 ends. Meh. I'd planned to cut some extra just in case decide to do overhangs on each end of shed anyway. Didn't happen. Now that I kinda know what I'm doing, could just build some rafters from scratch. 12 foot board does one rafter. Takes four 47" boards. Peak angle 20*, lower section 22.5.

Some of this lumber looks like a beaver chewed it. Man it's ugly.

It would likely save me time & aggravation if just build the floor and work off it. Problem is...that's how I fubar'd my back several months ago. Advantage of trailer is perfect height. Old back just doesn't like imitating a jack-knife.

Then there's the foot cramps/spasms. I thought my foot was about to do a scene from Alien when I got in the recliner. O.U.C.H. It's still threatening to blow up. Thought it was making growing sounds but realized i hadn't eaten since breakfast at 6AM. Thing about getting fat (about 30lbs over optimal fighting weight) you tend to eat too often so never hear your stomach growing and squirting juices.

Mine was in overdrive. Rice Krispie's for the quick patch job. Been eating bunch of frozen Banquet stuff...that's about run its course.

Can't believe it's only 8:39 EST. Been up since just after 5. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I so want to go to bed but don't want to wake up at 1:30 wide awake. Seems like earlier I go to bed less hours I sleep.

Waffle House doesn't allow coffee drinkers any more. To-go only after midnight.

Found shingles on Marketplace 5 miles away. 170 bucks for 10 bundles. Should do shed & porch. Rough on the old back getting them in the shed under the bench. At least won't have to move until they get put on roof.

Six on porch other 5 on trailer. Not enough room on porch for all eleven without clearing it completely off. Then nowhere to put stuff from porch. Can't stack all eleven on trailer without getting killed by full sized Jenga pile. Really prefer they be standing up anyway. Meh. Really need another shed to put the stuff in that will build another shed with. I think.

A third project. Solid planning.

How’s the transmission overhaul going?

A third project. Solid planning.

How’s the transmission overhaul going?
Transmission IS the 3rd project. Need shed and/or porch expanded. #1 problem is I've acknowledged don't have the physical ability to do some of the work. Between lower back spasms, random vertigo and 4 years of inactivity...I'm worthless. Possible getting out of recliner would help.

I don't like that.

I LOVE my recliner. Gave up on walking. When figured out 10K steps was less than 500 calories, seemed like waste of time. If I were honest, wasting time is what I do best. So...
